Best little brewery and eatery in town. Out of our one week stay we ate there three times, that should tell you how good their pizzas, their pretzels and the brews were because we ate selective when it comes to food and brews.
Fun, friendly people, food was exceptionally good and came out faster than expected, pretzels were crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, right out of the oven. The pizza was exceptional we tried the Margarita, and the Deluxe. The brews were fantastic, refreshing and we took some with us before leaving town. Unfortunately the ‘take homes’ didn’t last long because they’re not a beer you want to save for later. So good.

Update: A year later, this place is a favorite!! Great people, great beer, and always a great time. They’ve added some food items and cocktails to their menu so there’s something for everyone even if you’re not a beer person. They have a great patio and frequently have live music. Don’t miss this one!!

Original Post: The brewery is very well done. Comfortable and relaxing. We only had one beer and it was a guest tap but very good. We'll be back to try their beers and the other guest beers. A really solid start for a brand new brewery.

Talk about great beer in La Veta, Colorado. This brewery is doing it right giving names of brews that represents the area. My favorites are West Peak Ale (Pale Ale) and Friar John (Abbey Ale). We stopped to sample a few and grab a pizza and pretzel bites. All were very good, great atmosphere and great conversations. Take a look at the merchandise with the topographic maps, very cool! Will be back next year for more!

My husband and I have become weekend regulars at the Merman and have loved the beer, the people, the vibe. And, now….drumroll, please….they are making fabulous craft cocktails! I tried their Tequila Drink and I love it! It’s complex and smooth all at once. Craft beer is the first love here but the new cocktail menu definitely gives the Merman a fun, new twist!

A must-see spot in La Veta! This has to be one of the cutest and most welcoming breweries I’ve ever been to! They nailed the branding and colors. Can the owner come decorate my house!? The bright atmosphere and great patio option with amble seating is perfection! Doing a few dry months so I appreciated they had great non alcoholic beer and kombucha options! My mom had their new beer being released that day and she loved it! Great addition to La Veta!

My friend and I visited this brewery while on vacation. I loved the atmosphere, decor, and the beer. I tried a local beer (88 the River) that was a very smooth, light lager. I tried MMB’s Brookside Blonde Ale that was crisp and delicious. The lady working behind the bar was very friendly and provided great service and advice on the beers to try. The bbq chicken pizza was delicious as well. Topped with bbq sauce, purple onion, and chicken, the crust was thin and crispy. I definitely want to visit again if I’m in that area again.

Even if this weren't the only brewery in town, I'd go again and again and again. Jen & JD have done an amazing job of not only brewing fantastic beer, but also nurturing a much-needed home base for locals and visitors to LaVeta. I've visited several times over the past few years and each time the beer selection is a little bit different and always offered something that I love. The outside patio - often with live music - is very dog friendly.
