The bonsai tree area was super cool! They explain their methods and even how long the trees have been in training! There are so many cool areas to explore and you really cannot see everything in one day. It’s awesome that they offer a membership which is perfect for someone like me who can experiment with my photography skills here. On the side of the parking lot, you can climb up to a little ridge area and watch planes take off from the airport! Not only that, but you can also listen to the air traffic controllers that speak through the speakers.

There is a little tram that goes through the park and stops at different sites through the gardens which is perfect for ADA.

The Norfolk Botanical Garden is an absolute gem! From the moment you enter, you’re surrounded by stunning landscapes, vibrant blooms, and peaceful walking trails that make it feel like a true escape from the hustle of daily life. Each garden area is beautifully curated and offers something unique—whether it’s the serenity of the Japanese Garden, the colorful bursts in the Rose Garden, or the magical Butterfly House.

The grounds are meticulously maintained, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. I especially loved the tram ride, which gave a great overview and helped us plan what areas to explore more in-depth.

It’s the perfect place for a relaxing stroll, a family outing, or even a quiet moment of reflection. Highly recommend visiting during peak bloom season—it’s breathtaking. Can’t wait to return!

This is a beautiful place to visit while in Virgina! This place is easily over 100 acres or even more. All the details, the grounds, the views, the quietness, and birds all over are just perfect! Oh, there is an on-site coffee truck. The coffee is delicious! All staff were super nice, the place is so clean! They have a small gift store where you can grab a thing or two. I would definitely do this again! Go prepared, bug spray, a picnic would be perfect, a blanket to lay in beautiful places around the gardens. Wish I would have known more about it. I would have been prepared! Next time! Don't miss finding all the birds!

We went during the azalea blooming season. Enjoyed the varieties of colors. Admission fee per person is very high given the garden size. Also directions inside is not very clear sometimes we were going in rounds

A marvelous & charming experience! The perfect place to stroll, admire a wide variety of plants, animals, & seasons. Make sure to grab a map so you don't miss out on anything! The Japanese Garden was of particularly unique beauty. Highly recommend.

We went there during the kid's Spring Break. It seemed busiest between 1100-1230. Two different tram rides and a food truck (a small selection of food and drink, but there are also vending machines. Not all flowers were in bloom, but it was still a great visit. We got a membership for a year (half of our ticket price for one day. We will be back!!!!! They are also expanding and it will be done fall 2025.

We visited during the Holiday light festival this past weekend. It was absolutely fantastic and everyone in the family agreed it was the best light show we've seen. We had tickets for 7-8pm on Saturday night so it was pretty busy but the wait to get in and park wasn't terrible (about 30min) and was well managed. Once parked, there wasn't a wait to get into the garden. The path was well marked and not crowded.
