It is such a nice rest area, so clean, including restrooms, which is very important when you're for days and hours on the road and you need a little break. The area around is very well maintained, it's very green and peaceful over there. And there's so many booklets and magazines about Illinois inside the building!

This is a very nice rest stop. The bathrooms are very clean. They have a coloring paper and free crayons for the kids. The vending machines have variety. The view from outside also very beautiful.

Spent the day here with my family (and a whole lot of other people) for the April, 2024 total solar eclipse. Was a very nice facility, one of the best rest areas I've been to anywhere in the country. Expansive, well maintained, nice views of the lake, large grassy areas, playground. Staffed visitors center with restrooms and a variety of reasonably-priced vending machines. A bunch of nice picnic tables throughout the park, some in covered pavilions. Playground with good, well maintained play equipment. Parking for big trucks. However, there did not appear to be any lake access for boating or swimming. Not sure if you can fish from here -- I didn't see anyone fishing, but I was not there on a typical day, either.

This is one of the nicest rest stops I've seen in the country. The restrooms were clean and smelled nice. They had real toilets, not metal jail toilets like some of the others. There was an attendant answering questions for visitors and lots of reading material for things to do in the area. The location is absolutely beautiful with lots of old trees and it's situated right on Lake Rend. There was a walking path, picnic tables, and a playground with a seesaw that even adults could get on because it was so tall. Of course, my husband and I had to try it, and it healed our inner child. I really enjoyed our stop here. It's a perfect stop during long hours of travel. I highly recommend anyone stop here. Please keep it clean.

This is great rest area. Plenty of room for kids and dogs to run around. Little playground it's clean and older . Has rally nice views of lake

A very beautiful rest area with expensive picnic grounds on the side of Rend Lake. Very scenic. The trucks are off toward the highway side, and the passenger cars are on the Lakeside.

Snacks as usual in the machines bathrooms are very functional, but a little aged and long in the tooth

It's a really great place to stop and go to the bathroom, stretch your legs and take pictures of the lake.
