I've been using optics planet for a bit now and I think they offer great deals, however their customer service and payment system is not good. Recently I had a package that the carrier delivered to the wrong address, I quickly called optics planet to see my options, they said that because it was my first claim they would issue a replacement package and that the claim was still being processed, after a few days the person who received my package was able to track me down and return it, but I am disappointed that optics planet did not provide me with an answer for more than 9 days.

Update: Reached out to customer service again, they promised to check the issue and get back to me but never heard back even after sending a follow up on Feb 28.

This company has a great selection on their website, but you have to be very careful. They are not transparent about what's in stock. I have had things be backordered for 6 months or more, and only found out after I placed my order. I don't have the patience to keep track of what I ordered for 6 months to make sure I receive it. Maybe that is what they are banking on. I hope its not this slimy on purpose, but why else would the website be setup this way? No thank you, I'll be shopping else where.

I recently attempted to purchase an automatic knife from your website and encountered some difficulties with the process that I'd like to bring to your attention.

Upon attempting to finalize my purchase, I discovered there were additional steps required that I was not aware of beforehand. This was a bit frustrating as the information seemed not prominently displayed and I did not see any warning about these requirements until after completing the transaction. As a result, I was unable to proceed with the purchase through your site and had to seek the product elsewhere.

I would like to suggest that these procedural requirements, particularly for customers outside Illinois, be made more visible on your website. Perhaps highlighting them more prominently during the checkout process or earlier stages of browsing could prevent future customers from encountering similar issues.

Do not buy from these guys! Policies are ridiculous, and they do not care to resolve issues.
Ordered product on 12/16/24. 2-3 day delivery. Tracking showed item was delayed leaving state. 12/26/24….still no product. Called customer service. Asked if I still wanted. I said yes, need ASAP as was for my son’s Christmas present and he is only out of school a few more days. Was told they’d look into it. Never heard another word.
1/2/24…..still not here. Tracking hasn’t moved since 12/24. Obviously lost/damaged. Called again. Told must be 15 days before they can do anything. Expressed concern that item was one state away and hadn’t moved in over a week indicated it was lost. Told they’d look into it.
1/8/25…..not here, tracking hasn’t moved, no resolution, no contact or follow up, again.
They have my money, I have no product. They will not send a replacement……..horrible experience. Buyer beware!

Don't buy here. Their website lists items that are unavailable/backordered and it will let you buy the item and even pay extra shipping to expedite. There is a little check availability button you can click on that will say if it's available or not but other than that there's pretty much nothing warning you that it could be backed up a year. That's pretty shabby. The customer support guy acted all cranky when I wanted to cancel and pretended to sound surprised that I wanted to cancel my order because it was backed up a month. Ill see if they refund me or not. Just don't waste your time with these guys

This terrible store likes to sell products they don’t actually have and then email you the next day to give shipping estimates for 6 months out. If someone wanted to order what they wanted from another store, they won’t be able to do it with the same funds until the refund makes it back to their form of payment. Which could be a consideration for someone else. Businesses like this should lose their ability to do commerce.

The only reason I am giving Optics Planet 1 star is because that is the lowest rating possible. Hands down the absolute worst customer service experience I can remember having. The game they play is they like to show items in stock but then you order and they keep moving the shipping date. Then try to call and you will be on hold 35 minutes minimum. The chat option is also worthless, make it difficult for you to get a refund. These guys are just brokers acting like they have a huge warehouse of goods ready to ship. Optics Planet sucks, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
