Paid my bill ahead of time and they never cleared the payment on their end. So the next bill cycle the deducted the last bill I already paid AND the current bill. Nearly $400! I called to ask for refund, but they said they can only send via check and it takes 4 to 6 weeks! Ridiculous, we live in 2025, there’s no excuse for this negligence and incompetence. No I have a credit of $180 from the bill I paid EARLY sitting in my account. My guess is, they will have someone up my energy usage to make up their profits. OUC is a monopoly and there should be competing power companies to offset price gouging and terrible customer service. They have a 1 Star rating and they don’t care because they know they will get your money whether you like it or not.

I sold my house in 09-24-2024. I called to close my account and they did recorded my call. I provided a new mailing address to them and they never updated that address. 01-22-2024 I received a credit collector message saying I owe them 37.37 plus collect fee. Why can’t they let me know before they use credit collector? They know my email and everything. This is the worst utility company I have ever seen.

The worst company in the world. I am one of the unfortunate ones to have this electric company. I work from home, and I had to leave town briefly. My phone was supposed to notify me of any alerts, but I didn’t receive anything from them. When I returned home, I paid the bill, but it’s been over four hours, and they still haven’t restored my power. They’re so quick to disconnect, but they don’t know how to reconnect my power. Because of this terrible electric company, I’ve lost a couple of sales and haven’t been able to work. Thank you, terrible electric company, for causing me to lose money due to your poor service. I wish I could switch to another electric provider. Terrible service and terrible people. Shame on you for being an electric company.

Double charged me this month and told me it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get a refund. Told me I could call the bank to place a stop charge but they might charge me a return fee for doing that! Absolutely useless, a scam of a company.

Need to update system better way to pay not easy making payments easy. EASY TO GET FEES THO SMH so tired of getting scammed for everything I have and then Wells Fargo or the company never releases the funds on time cause hell of fees and payment not going through I work to much to be in the phone all day trying figure why the pay ment did not go through weeks later and have to deal with late fee and insufficient fund fee

Leaving a bad review for a power company is funny... It's like leaving a bad review for McDonalds... You should know better...
That being said....
Our complex is having substation failure more and more often. I called to try and get an explanation.
No call back... shocker... lol
I also am looking into Duke Energy. I'm sure they are terrible too but maybe I can get a better deal at least.... Call them and check.... can't hurt...

Just off the phone with Lana in customer service. I’m only writing this review because I look at all the negative comments and wonder what is really happening——
I have been a customer of OUC for 10+ years and through all the ups & downs, weather conditions & outages they have been very dependable & helpful to me.
Today Lana was very informed on what I needed to do and walked me through the process— she was polite, curious, educated in her field and gave me excellent customer service. Thank you.

Unfortunately, since OUC is a monopoly, their google reviews don’t matter. But I’ll pretend it does: their customer service is horrendous. I was told by their own contractor that the meter outside my home sprung a leak, causing my water bill to skyrocket. I opened a ticket with them in June. It’s now October and they finally fixed it, after multiple calls and emails.

I wasn’t even going to ask for my money back for the wasted water (over $500 in water and wastewater bills) when I got a call from a disgruntled OUC customer service rep, who started the call with a serious attitude and raised voice. She told me that there was never a leak and that the contractor that THEY hired lied to me about it. She told me that it’s my fault my water bill is $200 a month (two person household) and that I should turn my sprinklers off (they haven’t been on in over a month to curb my high water bill). I had to literally tell her to take a breath and pause before continuing to speak to me, after which she was a bit more pleasant, but still defensive and accusatory of my motives. It’s a mess of a company, but hey, at least they have cool rebates!
