I recently had the pleasure of working with Bill Kirk, a true expert in asbestos, lead, and mold testing, at Patriot Environmental in Culver City. I cannot express enough how impressed I was with his professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to providing top-notch services.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Please find another company. I called Patriot and requested a quote for "lead and asbestos" testing on an acoustic ceiling. I wanted the tests performed in two locations, the master bath and the garage. Patriot quoted a price of $395 plus $16 per sample for asbestos. I was then informed of Patriot's policy to draw a minimum of 3 samples per room, and that a deposit of $395 was required upfront to reserve my appointment, which they were happy to take over the phone. Satisfied with the price quoted (2 rooms, 3 samples per room, $16 per sample, that's $96 plus $395 for a total of $491) for the "lead and asbestos" testing I requested, I provided my credit card information and paid the deposit of $395.

Later that day, a little before 5pm, when it was too late for me to shop for a different next day appointment, I checked my email and found confirmation of the price structure discussed above, PLUS an additional cost to me of $40 per paint sample to test for lead. I immediately informed Patriot that the additional cost had not been discussed over the phone before I paid my deposit or made my appointment, and that I expected them to proceed according to our agreement over the phone, and test for both "lead and asbestos" at a cost to me of $491.

The technician came the next day to collect samples. Meanwhile, it took Patriot 3 days (Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon) to review a recording of the conversation, before it was confirmed by Stacey that in fact, over the phone, I did request "lead and asbestos" testing, and that Patriot had indeed made no mention of the $40 per paint sample charged for lead testing. Stacey then went on to explain that since the additional cost was communicated to me by email, that Patriot was not responsible for my understanding of $491 for the requested "lead and asbestos" testing, and that instead I would be charged $571 if I wanted to have the paint samples tested for lead.

For the next 5 minutes or so, I repeatedly reminded Stacey that the email with the additional cost was sent to me AFTER I paid a nonrefundable $395 deposit, which Stacey pointedly refused to acknowledge any relevance of to my complaint; choosing instead to parrot nonsense about emails being "in writing" which therefore absolved Patriot of any liability for misquoting their price structure over the phone. Stacey was further adamant, despite having just confirmed only minutes prior that I did indeed request "lead and asbestos" testing, that if I were to just listen to the recording myself, I would understand that Patriot's quote of $491 for a $571 job was in fact justified.

Now having been insulted, and not being a strong enough person, myself, to calmly deal with such prolonged degrees of idiocy, negligence, and malfeasance, I lost my temper and the call ended shortly thereafter. As of writing this review, I still do not have the results for the "lead and asbestos" testing I ordered.

I would emphatically advise AGAINST using Patriot's services for any testing, whatsoever. If this company goes bankrupt and its office staff ends up destitute, it would be too fine of an ending for them.

We ordered lead, mold and asbestos testing a year ago from Patriot. Not only did it take them over 4 days to "create a report" and send it to us (despite getting the lab results in one day). Go to any other testing facility
