We recently had a disappointing experience with People’s Trust Insurance. We became a new customer in September 2024. In February 2025, we received notice that they were not renewing our policy in September. Their reason was that underwriting did not have a copy of our previous insurance coverage. Our shock was, how can underwriting approve us in September then come back six months later to tell us they were dropping us because of a lack of important documents?

We resubmitted the requested document and all the other documents they originally asked for. They have since reinstated us. In this day of insurance craziness, this is not good business practice!

I would leave a 0 start review if I could. This is by far the WORST insurance company I have ever had. For context, I ran over a tree branch late at night after hurricane Helene. I called the insurance company the next day to file a claim because of how late it was when the event happened. They said to get a rental (find my own) and they would “reimburse me up to $900.” I understand why it was only $900 because that’s what I paid for for my policy. However, the rep did not inform me that they would only cover the rental from the time the vehicle is in the shop until after the vehicle leaves the shop. I couldn’t immediately get my car in the shop because the body shops were closed in preparation for hurricane Milton. Long story long, it has been a month and half since I’ve had my car. The insurance company is nearly nonresponsive and the “appraiser” Hector takes 3 weeks to respond. The adjuster, Esperanza, can not be reached by phone, only email. Then when the company *does* respond after numerous emails and calls by my mechanic and I, they sent the wrong amount to the mechanic. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY MAY BE “CHEAP”(which they’re not), BUT THEY ARE TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Oh by the way, I had to find my own body shop, own rental, and be the middle man between the insurance agent and the mechanic. I might as well be doing their job😆

This company is nothing more than a government sponsored theif. I've been paying them for 10 years with no claims. Meanwhile, they've been doubling my premium every year. This year, I made a claim after hurricane Milton. I had foundation damage, fence damage, and internal damage. People's trust said due fine print, none of the damage is covered. I will not be renewing my coverage. I'm better off taking care of myself.

People’s Trust Ins took the premium from my account on Dec 12. My current Farmer’s Ins policy did not expire until Jan 12. They cancelled my new policy on Dec 18 because my home is in a trust. They cancelled before the policy took effect. It is now Dec 30 & I have still not received the money that was taken from my account on Dec 12. I will NEVER do business with this company again!

Policy was arranged by a broker when I bought the house. It was the best quote the broker could get. New to the US insurance market I had no way of checking for myself. We’ll have to see how it goes on renewal.

I filed a claim on 1/2/25, but as of today, I still haven't received a final plan. No one has reached out to follow up on my claim, and each time I have to call for an update.

Update: by today 2/8/2025, still have not received any email or phone call regarding my claim submitted on 1/2/25.

People Trust was selected after a careful evaluation of 5 companies. The were the lowest price and during the process to obtain the insurance policy, they were very informative and prompt to contact us.

Idk what to say. I got this insurance through a 3rd party and I have never heard from them. No one reached out after hurricane, but they sent this survey to ask how my experience is with them. So 3 stars for not taking the initiative to reach out and say hi.
