I regret ever choosing PES Solar for our solar panel installation. We signed a contract for $47,480, expecting quality service and workmanship. Instead, we’ve been dealing with extensive roof damage caused by their installation, which has led to water leaks, ruined ceilings, and additional costs for us to fix their mistakes.

It took PES over six months to complete the installation and get the system operating, which should have been a red flag. But the real trouble began when we first reported a roof leak directly below the solar panels. After weeks of waiting, PES sent a crew to "repair" the issue. Unfortunately, their repair was inadequate, and the leak persisted. Despite numerous calls, emails, and follow-ups, the company failed to properly address the problem. Their customer service is slow, unresponsive, and seems to be constantly "working on it" without actually fixing anything it is also near impossible to have follow up with the same employee.

At one point, they sent a technician with nothing but an 8-foot ladder and a bucket of paint to address the ceiling damage in our living room – for a custom home with vaulted ceilings. This technician was not prepared to fix the real issue, and even commented that he didn't know what PES expected him to do with the materials provided. He left without completing any repairs, and our situation has only worsened since.

We’ve now had independent inspectors and roofing companies out to assess the damage, and it’s clear that PES’s installation caused significant roof damage. Over 70-80 tiles around the solar panels are broken, water is dripping through the roof onto the floors.

To make matters worse, PES continues to dodge responsibility, offering partial solutions and ignoring the underlying damage caused by their poor workmanship. If you're considering PES Solar, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Their lack of professionalism, delays, and disregard for customer satisfaction have cost us thousands of dollars in additional repairs and significant stress.

I should've let him hit me.

This morning around 9a, while driving in the left lane on westbound I4, truck #42 decided to cut me off doing about 60 when I'm doing 75-80. I had to slam on my breaks so hard to not hit him that my car fishtailed. I called the 800 number on the back of the truck and spoke with some as equally as incompetent as his driver, by the name of Eric. This was the conversation:

"Hi, I'm calling to report one of your truck driver's erratic driving, truck number 42."

"Ok I'll look into it, thanks."

"Ok, do you not want any details on what happened?"

"Uh, you said they were driving erratically. But, uhhhh... yeah, sure."

I hung up at this point. If neither the truck driver cares about his company's vehicles, or the lives of others, and the customer service rep could care less to even inquire, what kind of service are you providing with your product?

Attaching a photo of said truck for reference. Would love to talk with someone who cares, if there is anyone. Bueller?

Again, I should've let him hit me.

A great solar company to work with.

I called a few solar panel companies for estimates. Sherman Boswell from PES Solar was the 2nd company to reach out to me. This gentleman came and gave us a no-nonsense estimate w/ easy to understand graphs & charts. He was very friendly, courteous, and professional. He did not push for us to sign immediately but made his case & let us decide. My mom was impressed w/ this gentleman's politeness and told me "to go w/ PES. No need to waste time with other companies."

We decided on an 11.6 kW system w/ 29x 400W panels. Sherman did the paperwork & helped us w/ a 25 year loan on the spot. Our monthly payments will be almost the same as the monthly electricity bill we are paying now ($200-$250 monthly). A couple days later I read about Enphase IQ8+ microinverters that provide off-grid power w/o the need for expensive battery storage units that are around $10K+ each, so I called Sherman & he re-did the contract to add in the changes (It was an extra $6K for the change). Sherman was a perfect gentleman, answering all my questions and concerns.

PES took care of everything, even sending the solar ARC application to my HOA. Teresa from PES kept me updated on the status of my paperwork thru concise txts and emails, whether I needed to sign more papers & explaining what they were, etc.

About 1.5 months later, Teresa contacted me to let me know my paperwork was ready and that a crew would contact me to set up an install date.

A few days later, PES called me to schedule an equipment delivery date & told me a crew would come do the installation the next day. I received a call the next day and scheduled the delivery for April 18th and installation for the 19th.

On April 19th, Kaleb and his young crew arrived at 7:15AM w/ 4 large PES Solar trucks/vans and began work immediately. They were polite, respectful, fast, and very professional. It's nice to see such a well-mannered young crew taking their work seriously. Mike, the foreman also arrived shortly and explained what they were doing. He was a nice guy & clearly looks after the others well. By 3:30PM most of everything was done and the main crew left. Only 1 truck and Austin T was left to finish up the wiring, software programming & clean up. He was very responsible and ended up staying over an hr to finish & clean up, which also involved patching a few holes in the walls that the main crew missed. He gave me the responsible older brother vibe which I can relate as I'm the eldest if several siblings. At 5:30PM he let me know that the installation passed remote inspections and he finally headed out.

Mike and the others told me that I just need the inspection paperwork to finalize (a few more days) and then they'll send to Duke Energy, my electricity company. Then, I'll just have to wait for Duke to come replace my 1-way electric meter w/ a 2-way one.

So far, PES Solar has been great. Now I gotta wait for Duke Energy to finalize the installation & I'll finally have solar energy!

I know I sound like a commercial but I honestly couldn't be happier w/ PES Solar.

Experiences can differentiate and with all things considered I feel for the average person to go through what I went through ( with the finance side ) this can really set things back for someone! Not the worst company out but they need to really be more transparent- Honest review AT LEAST READ SECTIONS WITH THE STARS

Communication - Horrible

Of course when the sale was happening Michael (Owners in-law) super nice! Gave us the best deal for our money spent time covering the ins and outs of solar and how NOT to get scammed. This built confidence in the company.

**The contracts were drawn up 2x due to some financing delays and he told be it’s the same just different interest rates. (My fault for not rereading the terms however he confirmed it was the same)
This is import because the savings went from 100 monthly after credits to potentially increasing my payments 100.

However I was adamant about not having ballooned payments and he set me up for just that (wouldn’t of done solar at this time)

I was told 30-45 days by Michael and was assured it shouldn’t take longer than that. 4 months later after reaching out to the company and being bounced around, they gave me a date of the Dec 9th. ( That was pushed back to the 11th and the 16th due to scheduling)

The emphasize they can help you get an additional tax credit that other companies do not know about and that is not true. I had a 3 way with my accountant and the company and it was confirmed that the credit they are talking about is something that doesn’t really help to the dollar amount that they try to sell you on.

The install of the panels were good. I had to supervise them when installing conduit outside due to the lack of care for the aesthetics. He piped the conduit crooked and was completely okay with leaving it that way until I made him fix it. Some showed up to my house were dirty and had crocs on the entire day. Brought unknown non-employees to my house that day in the car. Their crew left stripped hardware, zip ties, and garbage around my driveway and my yard.

Install of battery-5/5

The last crew was great! They 2 gentlemen and the Forman did a great job and took pride in their work. A little nature damage to the stucco from drilling ( Stated someone will come back to fix) cleaned everything up and mad sure they did everything that I requested.

Update:
I waited a few weeks to give time to fix issues prior to posting. If the issues are fixed accordingly then I will update again. We didn't stay at our home while they completed install. I didn't notice the gutter and panel damages until the following day. I still waited to post, as I thought it would be addressed quickly.

Our gutters are very new, less than 4 months old. We paid good money for them and the solar panels. Well, when lifting the panels up onto the roof they did not cover or protect the gutters. It's not just scratches. The actual metal gutter has rivets in it, as well as paint scratched off. Last week, I was told they would paint it the same color. That's not acceptable to me, but I let it go. The gentleman who came out to check the paint only did so because we refused the last payment until it's fixed. He told me "it's not the first gutter to get scratched up and won't be the last". I was also told the bottom of the panels are scratched up due to the packaging. It looks like they were drug along our driveway vs being carried. I would be ok with that explanation, but only the panels on this side of the house are scratched up. It could still be the reason, but we didn't pay $30,000 + for panels to be scratched up when installed. I'm adding a few photos of the scratches on the gutters and panels.

We interviewed more than five solar companies to come out and give us estimates. They were all very overpriced in their roof estimates. They wanted upwards of $70,000- $90,000 for the new roof. We kept holding off and listening to more and more companies. My husband really wanted solar, I still do not want it. However, I called a friend to ask who she used on her house. She told us PES Solar. They had great customer service and had good results with their insulation several years back. That brought us to calling PES Solar. Mike Gonzalez came out to give us an estimate and go over any questions we had at that time. He was not pushy and very accommodating with any questions we had. He even answered a few emails after that initial meeting at our home. We then proceeded with PES Solar based on their great customer service they gave initially. It was helpful that they were not pushy or trying to upsell us. Teresa helped with all the paperwork and kept us updated. Brittney fielded some questions and was very helpful. The company that dropped off the supplies was very professional and got work done quickly. Mike Mitchell came with the installation crew. They were very respectful of our property. They seem to be very knowledgeable with their job at hand. Mike was great to explain what they would be doing and how to finish up the process with Duke in the next week. He showed us the breakers and what each one was in the new box. We have 36 panels, and photos are included below. We have been very pleased with our experience with PES Solar thus far. I would also recommend them for solar, if you're looking. They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and quick to answer any questions. They are not pushy with sales but are helpful when needed. PES Solar is a great local company to use for your solar.

The sales rep was very helpful and patient providing all the information regarding the panels I wanted and the whole process was a breeze with entire staff communicating with us on each step of the process till the end of installation. We are now waiting on the final step for FPL to install the new meter and cannot wait to see the system at work. Thank you for taking care of this quickly and efficiently.
