"Disappointed with Misleading System Capacity and Poor Accountability"

I chose PES Solar based on their reputation and a strong recommendation from friends in my community. Unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating and disappointing.

Here’s why:

1. Underdelivered System Capacity: I signed a contract for a 21 kW AC solar system, but the installed system is limited to 16.53 kW AC due to the inverters' maximum output capacity, which PES confirmed. This represents a 24% shortfall from what was promised in the proposal.

2. Misinformation and Delays: The installation process was riddled with issues. Improper wiring initially caused overloaded breakers, delaying the system's activation by over two months. It wasn’t until a technician corrected the wiring in August that the system became operational—still at reduced capacity.

3. Poor Communication: Despite detailed emails to PES management, including Mr. Goldstein, I’ve received no meaningful response to my concerns. Promises to investigate or rectify the issue have gone unfulfilled, leaving me to chase answers and solutions on my own.

4. Misleading Sales Practices: As a mechanical engineer with 40 years of experience in energy upgrades, including commercial solar installations, I carefully reviewed PES's quotation, including hardware and price per watt, before selecting them. However, I trusted their claims about system capacity, which turned out to be inaccurate. The inverters they installed cannot deliver the promised AC output, a fact I later confirmed from the equipment specifications. I regret not verifying this detail sooner, but I never expected such misleading practices from a reputable company.

5. Arbitration Clause in Contract: I am evaluating the arbitration clause in our contract, which states that the prevailing party can recover legal fees from the losing party. While I hope to resolve this amicably, I am prepared to take this step if PES Solar continues to avoid addressing the issue.

At over $60,000, I expected transparency, professionalism, and a system that delivers on the promises made during the sales process. I urge PES Solar to take accountability and provide a solution that aligns the installed system's capacity with the agreed specifications, or refund me for the missing kw (approximately $14,000). Without such action, I cannot recommend PES Solar to anyone.

Conclusion: PES Solar needs to prioritize customer service and honor their commitments. Buyers should be cautious and thoroughly verify all technical details before signing a contract.

STAY AWAY!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! Since this system was installed a couple months before the beginning of summer, it has had one defective panel. They still have not replaced it or even answer my calls on when they are going to take care of it. I reach out to the salesman who seems very pleasant, but nothing gets done. Do not do business with this company. They are expensive and I went this route thinking it would be a top-tier company and, I’m getting fly-by-night service from them. again do not do business with this company. Stay Far Away from This Company Horrible Experience with Solar Panels!
I regret choosing this company for my solar panel installation. From the start, it has been a complete nightmare. First, they lost my paperwork because one of their employees quit. Then, during installation, someone fell through my ceiling, and they refused to cover the entire repair cost, leaving me with a huge, noticeable patch in my open-concept home.
They also installed the panels on an old roof, which caused leaks. I had to remove my $12,000 roof cover just so they could deny responsibility, even though multiple roofers, inspectors, and my insurance company confirmed that the leaks were caused by the panels.
To make matters worse, when I signed the contract, I was promised a free one-time uninstall and reinstall service, knowing my roof was 17 years old. Now, when I'm finally getting my roof replaced due to all these issues, they’re trying to charge me $15,000 to remove the panels! This is not what I was told when I initially signed up.
To top it off, their customer service is terrible. I called twice today and was promised a call back in 15 minutes, but hours later, no one contacted me. Jake, in particular, was supposed to handle it, but no follow-up. After being on hold for hours and being constantly ignored, I finally got through to someone who told me there was no one in the office because it’s Friday!
Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from this company. The stress, damage, and frustration are simply not worth it.
