Cute little town. If you like shopping it has so many shops to see. I was able to meet my favorite National Geographic photographer at his gallery too. Try the flat bread it's fantastic! Really enjoyed Skagway very much.

Small town but so much fun, we did the White Pass Train tour and it was fantastic. The train takes you right up to the top of the summit and crosses into Canada. Fantastic views across the top of the mountains. Definitely worth the tour if u get a chance.

Took a cruise. Skagway was one stop. Lots of history & friendly people. Negitive: lots of jewelry stores & owned by cruise lines. We looked for & found a few local craftsmen. Took a 3 hour train ride which was very interesting.

To the people of Skagway and the tourism council... a big thank you! You did the best job out of all the other Alaska city stops. You placed seating every where. Thats a God send !! When ya get old and have bad legs like my 74 yr old friend he needed to sit halfway btwn a city block. You also provided clean bathrooms every where thank you! Finally a tourist stop run by good common sense people. So many of the cruisers are over 65 they need bathroom facilites. I applaud the tourism council. This was my 3rd Alaska cruise and first time here. Not only is your hospitality wonderful but your city is absolutely gorgeous. My next Alaska cruise has to have Skagway on the itiniary stop. Cant wait to visit again. ๐Ÿฅฐโค๏ธ

A picturesque classic Alaskan mining town with one of the finest small-gauge railways up through the Whitehorse pass into the Canadian klondike.
The ramp to the dock from the ship can be steep to get up to the boardwalk, depending on the tide.
The depot for the train is right next to the dock.
The town is worth looking around with many pubs, eating places & even a quilting fabric store. The ever-present jewellers are scattered around as usual.

Review of Skagway, Alaska - "Gateway to the Klondike" ๐Ÿž๏ธโœจ
๐ŸŽ‰
Even though this is my third time visiting Skagway and my second this summer, it always feels a bit different every time I come here. The landslides are unfortunate, but they don't overshadow the brightness ๐ŸŒŸ of this charming city.
๐ŸŽ‰
I absolutely love the overall vibe, like stepping back into the 1900s โณโ€”so unique, yet modern at the same time. The White Pass conductors and all the staff dress up just like people from the 1900s, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere. As a tourist, I feel like I haven't paid enough ๐Ÿ’ต for the incredible experience. The people living here work so hard to maintain the historic buildings ๐Ÿš๏ธ while providing modern amenities. Every store worker is super friendly, and even the police ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ are welcoming.
๐ŸŽ‰
This time, I explored most of the independent stores ๐Ÿ›๏ธ, avoiding the chain stores selling gems, gold, or silverware. I just love the local artist shops ๐ŸŽจโ€”they're a must-visit! I even bought a beautiful art piece (less than $50) to support them. Overall, this city is wonderful, and I'm pretty sure I'll be back for a fourth visit... ๐Ÿ˜Šโœˆ๏ธ
