HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! After getting quotes from 7 different companies, I couldn’t be happier with my solar project completed by SunPower by Precis. Not only did they beat all other quotes, they destroyed them! I did extensive research on the different panels, inverters, gateways, batteries, etc. For my home, I went with 28 LG 390 Watt Neon R panels, Enphase IQ7A micro inverters, Enphase IQ Envoy and 2 Tesla Powerwall batteries. Roughly an 11kW Solar System. Working with Patricio Rodriguez as my sales rep was a true pleasure. He listened to my needs and answered all of my questions at all times of the day and night. Even when I asked him the same thing numerous times! Lol. Patricio is very honest and straight forward. He does not make false promises and will do everything in his power to get you what you want while staying within your budget. When it was time for install, Josue and his crew were amazing! Very prompt, always on time, courteous and respectful. The crew took their time and exceeded my expectations on the esthetics by running all conduit inside my attic and color matching the paint of anything that was visible on the side of my home. Josue is very professional and knowledgeable, I felt very comfortable and confident in his abilities to lead my install. The whole process was made easy due to the companies ability to have the smartest engineers and an extremely helpful staff. At the end of the day, we are making a big investment and I whole heartedly recommend SunPower by Precis.

I have a sunpower system installed by precis since 2015. Gary and Cathy were the sales representatives that sold me my system. It was input into their system with incorrect shade calculations and I was promised that it is an amazing system that always overproduces power. It has failed year after year to produce the minimum guarantee rate for power production. I have contacted precis multiple times and they will not repair the system to meet the minimum production Guarantee. I will give one concession their engineering department is very friendly even if their hands are tied due to company policy. Last year the inverter went out and it took many months to repair. During this time I had to pay the sunpwer bill and edison. Sunpower is not worth the extra money and the precis sales team will lie just to get their commission checks. I can not recommend anyone to trust this company with their solar needs.

DO NOT USE Sunpower by Precis aka PRECIS SOLAR

20 of my 25 solar panels failed within the first 2 years. 80% failure rate. There was a fire sparked from their junction box on top of my roof. I was told from Precis that it was due to moisture buildup in their waterproof box which they had drilled a hole in for the moisture to drain. The only reason I knew the solar panels failed was due to a bill at the end of the period roll up from Southern California Edison for $2,341.98. Not expecting that bill as the previous year I had a positive amount and received ~$100 from SCE.

I contacted Precis immediately where they found that 20 solar panels had not been working. When I purchased the solar panels AND MONITORING SYSTEM from Precis, it was not installed correctly and the system was not commissioned through Sunpower so I and they could not use the monitoring system which I paid for. I was told at time of purchase that Precis will monitor my system to make sure that if anything goes wrong, which it wouldn't, that they will fix the issue right away.

I obviously escalated the issue to their V.P. Matt. I have called his office and left him notifications to call me back on 8 occasions in the previous month. I have only gotten a hold of him 1 time and that was because he actually picked up. He was extremely rude and accusatory to me. He stated that they do not monitor their clients systems, he does not know why my system was never commissioned so that I could monitor it, and I am told that it is MY FAULT for their faulty installation and failure of 80% of the panels. He told me to send him pictures of the electrical fire which I did within 10 min of the phone call. I have never heard from him since or had him call me back with my follow up phone calls to him. All I want is for them to cover the $2,341.98 bill from SCE due to Precis' failure to properly install my system. Nothing more nothing less.

So I paid ~$36k for the system and get stuck with a bill from SCE for another $2,341.98 that all failed prior to it lasting 2 years.

You can see from the pictures from what the tech removed from my roof of the electrical box (rust, oxidation, and electrical fire) that happened. Remember, this is less than 2 years old and a "waterproof box" that builds moisture in which they drill a hole in for it to drain. You can also see the Tech putting his legs on the actual fragile solar panels as he worked at fixing the box. Did he break some of the solar cells? Who knows.

This still has not been resolved.

Sales rep - Tim Marquez lies to you and will agree to anything but project team will not agree to it. I escalated to company VP - Matthew Perry called me and said this is what it is and they will not do anything about it. They agreed I was promised wrong things but company will not own upto it. They had an issue with permit and were sitting on it for three months without notifying me which caused lot of delays.

Buyer be ware!!!! I have had them since 2014! Nothing but a complete nightmare of a company. I have 33 panels and still pay around 3000.00 a year to Edison. I cannot tell how many times my system goes down. Their customer service is worthless. All I hear is sorry mama we put in a request 2-3 months later a team shows up. Every time they all say something wasn’t connected!!!!! Never do I get a detailed explanation of why it’s not working. After 8 years they had to split my system and guess what it when down again with a week. Several more visits it finally working but for how long how knows. Their production guarantee is trash too. Last years bill 4100.00 dollar for Edison !!!! What did they send for a production guarantee ? A 175.00 !!! Like wow that’s totally worth the 270.00 a month I pay you. To make matters worse they say it’s not their fault the system goes down!!! Well it’s certainly not mine!!! Now if the system is down/broken why do I have to pay for something that isn’t working? Not one single person at the company can answer my question. My payments come out automatically like clock work for a system that is worthless. No one follows up ! You always have to call and sit on golf for hours. Then they come out clam to fix and then email saying case closed. Say you’re self money, time and frustration and find another company!!!.

Our salesman, Devin was polite and informative. But our house wasn't sized properly. We purchased the solar, took out a loan. Our house now costs more to operate per year than it ever did. We spoke to the office, they audited it and said it was fine and that WE were using more. When actually, after we purchased solar and it was installed, I changed every bulb to LED, and installed a smart/energy star thermostat. I clean my panels regularly. They mentioned my trees being tall, well they've been there before the solar so wouldn't you think they'd adjust the amount of panels accordingly? And finally, they SUGGESTED more panels added to the system, of course I would have to pay out of pocket for them, $3000-$5000...
The installation is top notch quality, I can tell you that. No conduit on the walls or across the roof. Really clean.

Shop around, do your homework on solar first.

Highly recommend! Excellent installers, engineers, and managers. After months of delay due to permitting and weather (outside of SunPower's control), my 28 solar panel and 4x Tesla gen2 Powerwall setup was finally commissioned and online as of May 11th, 2023. Everything turned on and worked, I am beyond ecstatic! I now have plenty of solar panels and battery, with 11.5 KW of peak solar, and 4x Tesla gen2 Powerwalls at 54 KWH of energy storage!

The only miscommunication was when I checked the critical battery load list, they didn't put my mini-split AC / heater on it initially. When I complained about it the manager said they usually don't put ACs on backup uploads to protect the Tesla Powerwall batteries. I explained that before the solar project started I installed an energy efficient mini-split AC / Heater system that has slow soft start capability and is battery friendly, and confirmed with the engineer who installed the mini-split AC system, as well as SunPower's engineer. I have plenty of sun and battery power to operate this AC system. SunPower by Precis then came back a month later to change the backup load, free of charge. Now everything is working perfectly and I can charge my Tesla with the power of the sun and power the entire house, including mini-split AC / heater, and be unaffected by extended power outages. If you install battery friend mini-split AC systems, and want it on the backup load, just make sure you communicate that clearly ahead of time and ensure it gets added to the critical backup loads sheet with their installers because they typically don't put AC on critical backup, especially not the traditional HVACs that have a large spiky startup current that's really bad for batteries.

Do not use this company. I bought a home that came with solar so I didn't get to choose the provider. We moved in Aug and the solar has been down since Sept. I had solar in my previous home and never had an issue. They have sent out 3 crews as of today. First crew said it was fine and must have just been a glitch. System went down again 5 days later with a failure message. They sent out another crew. They couldn't fix it so crew 3 came out and they can't fix it either. Now they said another crew will be coming out and they will fix it. It takes 2 weeks every time they send out another crew plus waiting for the approval on the work order. This is taking months for them to repair the solar. Yet they still want their money and I have no solar. I'm paying for solar panels and am electric bill. They claim I will get reimbursed but they can't tell me how much. Do not use this company!!!!
