I wouldn’t recommend this business to my worst enemy. They came in for asbestos mitigation via an insurance claim at my house. Prior to them doing their job a plumber had to cut exterior stucco for leak mitigation. When PW Stephens did the interior wall cuts to eliminate the water in dry wall they left the hole on the other side wide open without telling me. They sealed the area off so I couldn’t see that the kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, and attic was exposed to the outdoors. Due to this, rats came into my house and PW Stephens just said someone should have sealed the exterior wall prior to them doing their job. If they had any professional standards they would have at least told me they left the hole open so I could have done something. Another contractor at the house was so disgusted that he sealed it himself in a matter of minutes with plastic left behind by PW Stephens, just like PW Stephens could have. The damage was already done and PW Stephens showed a total lack of professionalism and standards and passed the buck and did nothing to correct the problem. Hire at your own risk.

Thank you for validating what I said with your response. Still no acknowledgement that rats didn't have access to the inside of the house prior to you cutting the dry wall. Also, not acknowledging, by looking at the photos, that the manner of containment still allowed rats access to the kitchen, bedroom, master bath, and attic. Still not acknowledging that a 1 minute fix that you could have done after cutting the walls would have kept the rats out, but a totally unrelated contractor with professional standards did instead of you. Showing that you are not part of a team trying to repair a house just an outfit thoughtlessly doing their single scope without an eye on the overall effect, like a professional outfit would do. They never tried to discuss the issue they immediately tried deferring any blame elsewhere. Again, to everyone else I hope this demonstrates what you're getting and not getting by hiring this business.

Our house is torn apart and the insurance company is dragging their feet. The most positive experience so far in this whole nightmare has been meeting Dave and his team. They are super efficient and friendly I would definitely recommend them!

I honestly have no idea why this company has such bad reviews, but I’ve used them twice now for two different asbestos removal one in my wall in 2020 and again in my attic when I was installing a new AC system this year and they have done a great job. Not only was the price right they did what was quoted and promised.

While we are in California, we are renting a home and the heater went out. Of course it’s an old house so there was asbestos. The house owner hired this company to come and remove the asbestos up in the attic. Edwin Chavarria (24 yrs with this company)was absolutely outstanding! He was very polite, told me right away how long it would take, and he and his partner did a very good job cleaning up. He told us he does his job in every house like it was a family member. My wife was so impressed, she gave both of them some of her homemade chocolate chip cookies. When the air conditioning company came back to put in the new air ducts, they said nothing about their still being asbestos in the attic. That leads me to believe they did their job. My wife and I were very surprised reading some of the other reviews because our experience was very pleasant.

I made the big mistake of trusting Andy McGee at P.W. Stephens in spite of the numerous bad reviews. There are reasons for bad reviews, stay away from this company! After I received my contract from him, I had 4 questions that weren't covered well, if at all, in the contract. One of the major questions was why does my contract state 2 days work vs. the 5-7 days he quoted me. I also asked for the contract to be changed to show the number of days they felt it would take, all the way to worst case scenario. In other words, the work will take anywhere from 5-14 days, depending on the amount of moisture in the wood. Easy, right? He got a little pissy and pretty defensive over that. He didn't like my asking how long for worst case scenario! I have to pay to stay at a hotel while they take care of this and I'm not supposed to ask what is the longest I'll be out of my own home? He refused to change the contract. Against my better judgement, I proceeded anyway. I signed the contract and later that day, he texted me saying he wanted to be up front with me, they require a 50% deposit up front. I kind of freaked over that, we argued a bit and he told me I had been a demanding customer. Why is that? Because you asked how long it would take to get the work done (wth?), what was worst case scenario and you don't want to give me 1/2 up front before I start the job!! BTW, the contract stated all payment due on completion of job. I told him I was willing to give him 10% and he asked me how do I even know you have the money to pay me when the job is over? We always do this and nobody ever complains he stated. Seriously!! (And nobody ever asks how long the job will take, either, right?) I can't remember everything he said, but he was trying to intimidate me into moving forward without adequate knowledge of scope of work, implying that I was being an unreasonable woman. I since found out he has a complaint filed against him with the State Contractor's Board for being unprofessional. Also, I was told it is illegal to ask for more than a 10% deposit or $1K deposit, whichever is larger. I also since found out that their remediation was faulty as listed in the contract, they weren't handling the asbestos correctly. If you read through the reviews, that is a common theme....asbestos problems. Just don't use them and if you do, be very careful. Andy McGee was a very charming guy until he's pressed, then the venom came out. Never in writing, however, only on the phone. Interesting. I did call the owner to discuss with him because I didn't know if he was aware Andy was requiring a 50% deposit up front and he never returned my call.

First of all this company is a full blown scam. They never removed my asbestos and they tried to take a lein on my home. I am in the process of suing this company. From the other reviews posted it's obvious this company is nothing but a scam! Also Gwen is one of the rudest people I have ever met. Do NOT recommend PW Stephens under ANY circumstances!

We were referred to this business by State Farm Insurance Company, but after communicating with the sales estimator (Darren Adams), it was clear that they did not wish to do business. Extremely unprofessional, not responsive (waiting for an email back for over a week, even after multiple follow-ups). State Farm Insurance Company is aware of this extremely negative, poor quality service experience. Therefore, I absolutely do NOT recommend anyone going to P.W. Stephens Environmental, Inc. for their environmental needs. Recommendation Given: 1-Star (Lowest Possible Rating).
