Having been with NOVEC, Dominion Power before, this is by far the worst power provider I’ve ever had. I wish you could choose which company you get but I guess that’s not an option. If you are a few days late on your bill they will shut you off, no realistic payment arrangements, no matter the time of year. But when the power gets cut off to your house because of storms there is no urgency to get it restored. You get texts saying it will be on in a matter of hours only to learn that it’s actually days, if that. All the texts they send you are not correct. Never know what to believe. If you live in a REC area you better get a whole house generator because you have no idea what you’re going to get in regards to reliable power. I was hoping to be watching the 50 year SNL show tonight. Nope.

There's a lot of negative comments but I live up in the mountains in Madison and the weather is crazy up here from flooding to high winds. Even when we had a huge flood in August they had the power back on the next day. The staff I've encounter have always been friendly and professional. I've lived here for 3 years now and I'm not sure my powers been out for more than a day, and it only went out in extreme weather.

Responsiveness to power outages is not good if you live in Rixeyville. Their numerous text updates are inaccurate in terms of restore time, they just keep moving the restore time over and over. Very disappointed in their reliability of service.

We have had 2 occasions for REC to come out to the property and both times they were out the next day. Neither of the events were an emergency. I love my electricity and don't mind paying the bill. I know what life us like without it and it is worth every penny!! Thank you guys for being there for us in those emergency situations putting your life in danger. Keep up the great job you are doing.

Customer service today is awful
We called today to have one of our properties electric cut off can you believe that they are giving me nothing but a headache on cutting the properties electric off they said they have to come out and make sure no one‘s living there. They have to come out and cut it off at the meter. I’m just like you cannot be serious, the customer service at Rappahannock Electric co-op is horrible

I've been with REC for 20 years. Today I received an email stating that my account was going to require a deposit. I do not owe a balance at this time. I have tried to call them about this five times. It is purposely very difficult to navigate their phone system and I could not figure out how to get a person. When I finally did figure out the correct option on call #5, I was disconnected. I wish we had a choice of utility companies in this area like they do in other places. If we ever do get to choose our own I surely would not recommend REC. I work hard and yes I have struggled like many people to pay the utility bill especially in the last 1-2 years with the inflation we are experiencing. Not to mention REC must have raised their rates because the last few bills I've had were nearly doubled! I think it should be illegal to charge an existing customer a deposit when their bill is not even past due. Especially given the current economic conditions- people can barely afford to eat these days. And this company has the nerve to spend money to mail out magazines to their "members" (not voluntary I remind you we did not choose our electric company) and yet they are so hard up for money they're going to ask me for a deposit now? Update: called to get on budget billing and was told my bill would be $154 every month. That lasted for one month. The next bill was $174, so I called to ask why. I got disconnected on the first attempt as usual. Found out they recalculated my bill, so now it's $174 per month for a small house with only three people.

For the outage on 5-26-24. Great job. I was driving in that storm and it was sporty. REC had the power back on an hour earlier than they predicted

I have had power outages with these Company however they have done everything they can to get it back on. Sometimes if you live in real rural areas. It may take a little longer. But the company is a fair and they do their best. At the end of the year because it's a Co-Op they do take money off of your account if there is money they are to get.So people need to stop and think.because how would you like it if your loved one was out there working on the power line in a storm.
