Paid for services not rendered. Explained exactly what the state required and provided the documents. Not only were the supporting documents not sent, but they requested I pay even more money just see if the state accepted the adjustment. Knowing full well they would not without the supporting documents. This all after I paid my full balance and was then told my full balance was not paid and owed an additional amount.

I went to them for tax advise & to do my returns for 2020. I signed the paperwork, and was told I would probably get my refunds in August. I waited until October & still had not received my refunds, so I called them. I was then told that not only would I not get a refund from state, but that I owed money. It turns out that, without notifying me, they decided to change my deductions. I had moved to a new house the end of last year, moving from a very large house to a much smaller one. I had lots of things that I donated, thus a large amount to deduct. They thought the amount was too high, so without notifying me they changed it. I made them change it back, and now have to drive down there again to sign my tax forms. This is extremely inconvenient for me because I am permanently disabled. I have never heard of tax preparers changing numbers on their own without permission. Do not use this business.

I met with Melanie Butler for a consultation on my income tax. She was extremely delightful and helpful. She seemed very trustworthy and knowledgeable. I ultimately decided to complete my taxes on my own, and unfortunately cannot speak on their actual services. But as my financial situation grows increasingly complex I would not hesitate to return for their assistance.

I wish I would have never worked with Rue and Associates. My husband and I feel completely taken advantage of. Insanely high prices for minimal work, hidden fees, and “customer service” that has left us in the dark regarding serious tax matters. We are way better off working elsewhere. I will make sure friends and family avoid this place at all costs.

I paid this company $ 500.00 to file my 2017 taxes. I paid taxes in 2 different states. Both states sent me bills. I have received letter from one that he said I receive a refund but noooo. I now owe due to the fact this company never sent in my W2. Now if it had happened with one state I would it the State fault. this happened with 2 states and the federal government. I paid over 1000.00 for a amended return (2016) due to military disability. was rejected due to incorrect paperwork. when I called and asked if they knew what happened was told they only file paperwork and were not responsible for anything after that.

My experience with Rue and Associates started out on a positive note. I met with Steve and Neil to discuss an amended tax return. Neil, who i can only imagine was a junior associate, handled all of my interactions after the preliminary meeting. Neil was disorganized at best. He wrote his notes on scraps of paper and didnt follow up when he said he would. He frequently told me "i have to check with Steve" which didnt inspire much confidence on my end. After all of my paperwork was mailed off and the matter closed i was charged triple by original quote. After i discovered the overcharge i tried to contact Randi in the billing department via voicemail and email. Finally a new Associate, Hugh, was able to contact Randi via email and copied me on the interaction. The response I got was that my costs were more because "Steve didn't include filing the taxes in my original quote". OK...Ill eat the extra $500 i was charged and not quoted but the extra $525 Neil took my check for was already taken out of my bank account was too much for me to stomach. After a week of voicemails and emails that Randi never responded to, I drove to their office to see if i could catch Randi in person. When she introduced herself i asked if she had gotten my voicemails or emails. She responded, "Yes i thought you were working through Hugh, I told him i would issue the refund". Bottom line is this firm didn't honor the original quote and couldnt even bother to return a phone call when i was due a refund for a full week. I had to physically leave my job to drive to their office to get a resolution. This is the last time i will use their services and i highly recommend using another firm if you are looking. Besides Hugh and the wonderful ladies at reception this company is not interested in customer service.
