I hired SQ Consultants, Inc after feeling like I was getting the run around. My home is currently under a lot of construction due to two unfortunate leaks, mismanagement from a mitigation company and extensive hail damage. During the taking apart of my home I found out that an entire side of my home had been sistered incorrectly with my home not fully supported and an engineer was needed. I had contact with other companies and somehow did not feel I was getting the answers needed for my contractors to start attacking this issue properly. I found SQ online, called them and immediately got a response. I found Syed to be speedy, extremely knowledgeable and he was compassionate to all the concerns I had with my home. He encouraged my contractor to be here in person during the consultation so any questions could be answered. Syed also showed compassion beyond his scope of work in regards to some significant personal changes in my life that were occurring at the same time. Within 24 hours of Syed’s visit I had the report I needed for my contractors to start planning the work. I highly recommend Syed and SQ consultants, especially if you are looking to work with an honest, compassionate, but most importantly, licensed professional.

I called Syed after being quoted a ridiculous amount by a foundation mitigation company to fix what was supposed to be catastrophic foundation issues. I was told by that company that my house was going to split in half if I didn't do something right away. Syed came out and told me that the foundation issues were not catastrophic and my house was not going to split in half. To make matters worse, he told me that what they had planned to do wouldn't have fixed the issues they claimed my foundation had. Syed literally saved me thousands of dollars. Syed was great to work with. For context, we were selling a home where an inspection from the buyer noticed cracks in the concrete slab foundation of our home. As the inspector was not a structural engineer, the inspector recommended securing the services of an engineer to verify the significance of the cracks. Syed walked with us through the home and explained likely causes and any potential impacts, and what possible remedies could be. Fortunately for us, the cracks were of no consequence to the integrity of the home and did not merit intervention, the result of typical slab settling.

Syed was able to work into our schedule on short notice. Of note is that the prospective buyers were going to visit the house shortly after our appointment, and Syed graciously agreed to stay an extra ten minutes and chat with the prospective buyers as well, including their agent. We received a report later that evening.

I definitely recommend getting a structural engineer to review any home structural concerns you have prior to getting a contractor out, and S Q Consultants is an excellent choice!

If I could give Mr. Syed Qamer 100 stars, I would. Five stars are simply not enough to give him credit for his services.

I called Mr. Qamer after business hours in urgent need of a structural engineer to take a look at some cracks discovered in the basement of a property I am purchasing. He called me back promptly the next morning at 8:52am, before his office was even open for the day. My request for his inspection was time sensitive, and he was able to come to the property that same morning about an hour later. He even got there before me!

His inspection was thorough, and he took the time to patiently answer all of my questions. Even providing further suggestions for home improvements. As a first-time home buyer, he made me feel at complete ease knowing that the cracks were indeed hairline and not compromising the structure of the home. Not to mention he is hilarious and a joy to work with.

I received his final report promptly, and now have complete peace of mind. I hope I don't run into any further issues that require the expertise of a structural engineer, however; if I ever do I know exactly who I will be calling. Over 38 years in this field and a true expert who will give you an honest opinion with zero greed in mind. I will be referring him to all of my friends and family.
