I LOVE Salem Electric. I used to be with PGE and the bills were always stressful and felt devisive but my Salem Electric bills are always amazing and I'm really happy. We only have had one power outage in 6 months and it happened around 9 pm (?) and it came back on within 40 minutes. Not bad in my opinion having had much worse on the coast. The customer service when I activated the account in June of 2024 was amazing and I was shocked that it was so easy and I didn't have to struggle with a crazy phone tree. The person who helped me was great.

Construction company took out a pole and left us with no power. It looked like a mess and a long repair. I am so impressed that they have restored power in about an hour. Good work. The best perk of living in West Salem.

Today outage (10/23/24) was quickly fixed and the outage was posted on the website within minutes of loss of power. Huge kudos and hugs for the wonderful workers who keep us warm and informed!! 🥰

Usually great to work with, their working hours are inconvenient, especially when youre waiting on a new debit card, your bill bounces bc of it, and you cant contact them to fix it until Monday...

Never really had any issues with them. They have always been super helpful and kind. Helped me with getting rebates for our heat pump, insulation, and windows. Plus a coop for an electric company is hard to find nowadays I appreciate them more and more as I read PGE's constant rate increases.

Worst customer service ever. My husband and I had Salem electric when we lived in west Salem. We ended up moving out on June 7th. Called Salem electric and closed the account. When we closed the account there was no outstanding balance due to just paying the bill right before closing the account. At the end of September we get a damn bill from Salem electric for $155.00 for JULY when we were not even living at our old residence and did not have Salem electric anymore. My husband went through the previous bills and everything lined up until July which is when they said we had a bill from July. After my husband and I were fighting with them they admitted that they might not have closed the account until a later date and that is why there is a balance of $155.00. We argued the fact that we should not have to pay that because we were not using their services and they still refused to help so we ended up having to pay the fee that Salem electric messed up on because they said we would be taken to collections if we did not pay it. I highly recommend staying away from them if you can since clearly there are a bunch of incompetent, unhelpful people who work there. Funny how they can mess someone’s account up that bad and still refuse to help. Pathetic!
