We ride our e-bikes from the Sundial Bridge in Redding, along the Sacramento River, to the top of Shasta Dam every year. It's approximately 40 miles round trip.
It's a beautiful ride with bridges, tunnels, and plenty of beautiful views along the way.
We bring lunch and enjoy the well-kept park at the visitor center with picnic benches and plenty of shade.

The scenery is beautiful. Be aware if you take the tour you may be turned away. The rules are stricter than TSA to get on an airplane and if you think you will just throw something away that is in your pocket before you go in think again. They will ban you for 2 hours until the next tour. There is no logic or reasoning in their thinking. They may as well shut the tours down and fire all of those people.

It’s breathtaking! If you like to go fishing with smallmouth bass or tell your great grandchildren about in terms of taste and size!
Go at least once to this marvelous place !(and restore your faith in the natural elements and that someone, our Creator, very generously wanted us to enjoy this spectacular environment!

As usual visitor center closed, but there is lots of parking and even without being open lots to see. Great grounds for a picnic scenic views and views of grounds spectacular. Unfortunately as we pulledbup on motorcycles a thunder storm developed. Needless to say no walks on the dam. Lake almost completely full. Worth the trip!!!

It was my first time to see the Shasta Dam. We went to the Visitors Center where the guides are really friendly and knowledgeable. We watched a movie and then walked over the bridge. I was too scared to take the elevator to the bottom. It's the largest elevator in the United States. It's beautiful scenery and free!
