Shelby electric is fantastic. Yes their rates are higher but they aren't buying in large quantities like Ameren. Outages are kept to a minimum and there is a price to pay when you want to live outside of city limits. Anytime I've needed an extension they have worked with me. Keep up the good work!

Been a member since i moved onto their lines in 2008. Power rarely goes out. When it does its very brief. Power price is reasonable considering the amount of miles of line with much less people than other investor-owned utilities in the area. They also are very good at communicating thru facebook, smarthub, and monthly news letter.

Shelby Electric takes the cake for the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. The billing department proceeded to belittle me when I tried to resolve an issue with my payment being taken out twice. Once I explained I hadn’t realized I payed the bill twice she told me they would void the double payment this time but next time I was out of luck. I wouldn’t give them any stars and switch my electric provider if I had the option. Let’s hope I never make a mistake again so I don’t have to feel the wrath of Shelby Electric billing department. If you have an option do not choose Shelby Electric.

I am displeased with this company. My account which is current was disconnected for no reason right before a holiday and when I finally reached someone they refused to help me. Apparently it is acceptable to allow "valued customers" to go without electricity for two days. Thanks Shelby electric for doing such a great job at not doing your job.

Beware buying a home in their service area power is more than double ameren plus $50 facility charge per month. If your use to ameren, you will be in for a shock, I never thought I would want ameren back. If you have a medical need for power as I do they dont care, ameren will at least give you some time if you get behind. Also if you get behind in the winter they do not care, you will be shut off even below 32 degrees. If your looking to buy a home in their area seriously consider other options. Also you can not buy your electric from other companies like you can with ameren you are stuck. I wish I would've been warned before purchasing my house.

Typical. This has to be the biggest scam ever. I've always had ameren here in Macon county, I recently bought another house in Macon county but realized afterwards that the electric was under Shelby electric coop. They literally charge 6 times the amount per kilowatt hour and a $52!!! Service charge per month. Be ware if your moving to the outskirts of Macon county bc Shelby Electric is a Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could give negative stars I would. I wish we didn't live in such a crooked state. You should have a choice when it comes to who deserves your hard earned money!
