Pricing is absolutely absurd and never goes down. Paying nearly 3 times what I paid at my last house which was bigger, had more stuff on all the time, and considerably less efficient.

Absolute thieves taking advantage of people with no other option - me included.

I would not even give one star to this place. They are not only OVERPRICED and OVERPAID but they took a payment of nearly 2000 for just a amp box, meanwhile on the same land and energy they have had in their system for 25+ years. We thought we got a prank when we was told they were taking the box for no payment. They took the money 6 MONTHS PRIOR. We called 3 times no return call and they came out and not only took the box but destroyed the entire pole. The entire pole is down with wires hanging out. They left it like that. There is NO ONE to talk to in a serious situation. It's a run around game, that person isn't here, or we don't see that in our system. SADLY YOU ARE THE ONLY ELECTRIC there is. Wonder if that's why they treat people so shitty. This is so unprofessional and so so so upsetting beyond words. I have 7 kids. Not that anyone cares.

I was trading stocks when my power went off for the 40th time this year, your outage caused me to lose over $300 since I wasnt able to trade when I needed to, not that you care based on the reviews.

Just do me a favor and save up my monthly bills then use it to hire JF Electric so they can fix your shit the right way.

I read the reviews of the co-op and I just don't get it. Karla could not have been more polite and helpful with me on the phone. The attention to detail was literally perfect. She was kind and thorough. I have lived all over the country... trust me... SW is much, much easier to work than Ameren, Memphis Light Gas & Water (Memphis), Dominion Power (Virginia), and PG&E (California).

Seriously, the reviews on here have gotta be from a tiny sub-section of their customers who wanted exceptions to be made. The co-op is a business and has to abide by rules and regulations and standard procedures -- flame spraying the employees because they can't grant exceptions is really inappropriate. Also, as a co-op it is critical the entire organization mitigates their risk -- this means they need to pull credit reports on potential customers before an agreement to provide service is established. This only makes sense. Anyone who argues differently simply doesn't understand how organizations minimize risk. So, if you are offended a business wants to make sure you are creditworthy before supplying you with thousands of dollars of service, then you should get a prepaid account. And if you cannot afford a prepaid account, then you prolly don't have the credit score you claim.

Point is, SW was awesome on the phone. Three cheers for Karla and this company!

The lady I've talked to has always been super nice! But the prices for running heat are awful to the point of not being able to even have heat! 15 dollars a day and we are still freezing half the time! Make that over 20 dollars a day now that the temp dropped! Unbelievable!

I have had Southwestern Electric for 30 plus years. Never had any issues with them. If you report your outage right after it goes out they immediately get a team on fixing it. Very happy with my co-op. I do wish they would go solar, I think it would benefit everyone in the long run by cheaper costs.

Our power is never off for long, and it's significantly cheaper than Ameren. During the ice storm in of the winter2006, family in Collinsville had no power for 5 days. We were only down for 20 minutes out in the country outside of Worden. Thanks for the great service. I'm shocked at the people here complaining of their rates. My daughters have Ameren and their bills are double ours even though their houses are smaller.

Just received 2 phone calls from SW Electric saying our account is overdue. It's not due until 10 days from now! I called to find out why I received the calls and she can't tell me anything because my husband's name is on the account. I'M TRYING TO PAY YOU!! This is ridiculous.
