This is NOT a nuclear power plant. When it was built, it was state of the art for a clean coal burning plant, hence the scrubbers in the cooling tower. I toured this when being built and after. Worked for the company at that time. It is a great company to work for and for the community to provide the cleanest power possible without nuclear. Nuclear is our best option for preventing global warming.

Best power plant ever. 5 stars. The electricity generated here is the best electricity I’ve ever had anywhere. Nothing can compare to it. Seriously the best electrons not just in the area but in the whole south east.

I have an old cell phone that was just dead and refused to charge.

I plugged it into an outlet with electricity supplied by this power plant - I swear it’s like new again! It’s super fast and works better than the day I bought it! Five stars!

Stanton A is a dual fuel, combined-cycle electric-generating unit. Stanton A is jointly owned by Southern Power, the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), and Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA). Southern Power and the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) are located near Orlando, Florida. The primary fuel is natural gas and the backup fuel is distillate (fuel oil). The unit went online in the fall of 2003.

Have you ever boiled water? Have you SEEN the water vapor coming off of the boiling water? The tall structures you see are NOT smoke stacks, they are cooling towers. They are emitting water vapor, just like your tea kettle. Are you are opposed to these power stations because you are woefully misinformed and ignorant about science. Then become part of the solution, not the problem. Please shut off the electric service to your home, electric car, and business.
