Over the weekend my wife and I were out for a walk and feeling a hankering for something sweet. We stopped in to Sweet Drip and picked out a handful of baklava to go.

Our final order included four small thumb-sized pieces, and three medium sized pieces. See the attached photograph. The final price: $41.06.

I was, in a word, shocked when he rang up the order. I seriously considered just walking out. But the baklava was already boxed up and decorated, so I just bit the bullet and swiped my card.

By way of comparison, the excellent Libanais Sweets in Skokie sells a fantastic 29 piece assortment of baklava for $22.95. I'm willing to pay a premium for availability, but SEVEN TIMES the per-piece price?!?

This was my first and last visit to Sweet Drip.

I recently checked out Sweet Drip Dessert Cafe and was really impressed! They have some unique desserts that are actually really good. I'm talking about their Pistachio Tres Leches, Crepes, Gelato, and Funnel Cakes - those are some popular ones. The atmosphere's cozy, making it a great spot for a date or hanging out with friends.

People seem to love the staff too; they're friendly and welcoming. Prices are pretty fair, though some folks think they're a bit high. And yeah, sometimes the portions can be small and service slow.

But overall, Sweet Drip's a solid choice for dessert. One guy said it's the best spot in Hyde Park, and I can see why. They've got creative flavors and a chill vibe.

If you're looking for a sweet treat, Sweet Drip's worth checking out.

don’t bother with the dubai chocolate strawberries costs 17.58 and the cup is small and they barely put chocolate in it. not worth it. i ate out of it already but you can see there’s barely any chocolate smh.

I really didn’t want to leave them a bad review because the owners are literally the nicest most kindest people ever but I’m compelled to after what I received. This coffee shop has superb customer service. This is my 3rd time visiting Sweet Drip & each time has been amazing but on this last occasion I ordered a Matcha. I usually get my Matchas from Starbucks but I really want to support this business because they’re lovely folks but the Matcha did not taste good. I’m not sure if it’s because of the added Lavender but I literally couldn’t finish it after just a handful of sips, so disappointing. It didn’t taste like the Matcha I normally get from Starbucks or like anything I’ve ever tasted. I paid just a few cents under $9 bucks for a large that was the size of a medium cup of something I don’t want to drink. I left & went to Starbies & ordered a large matcha for $2 less & a larger cup. I took pictures to show the difference. Something is definitely off with the type of matcha they’re using. Please you guys come down on these high prices or give customers more & please taste the matcha, it taste chalky as well. They’re sweets are pretty delicious though but the prices are way to high. Almost $9 bucks gone down the drain.

Waffle bites gonna do it every time.

The staff is always friendly, plenty of casual seating for sharing snacks or chilling alone. I come back every few months for the different seasonal waffle bites, but strawberry shortcake is what they had at the time I visited and it's easily my favorite flavor.
