My office has worked with Technical Doctor for 6 years and we finally made the switch to another IT company. I could create a very long list of reasons why we made this switch but I will sum it up on a few points:

1-Our website was hosted with them and, during updates, we accidentally messed it up. We were working on getting it formatted properly and a TD employee helped us to restore it. When he was restoring it, something happened and it took down the other sites that TD was hosting. We later found out all these sites were somehow hosted together and, a change to one site, took down all the rest of the sites. The owner was not happy with this situation (and actually refused to address it until he returned from vacation many days later) because he had to remake all the additional sites. We were told there were not backups being done of any of the websites which is very alarming.

2 - You had to constantly be on top of them to make sure projects were getting done. After months of trying to arrange our update, we finally set up to update our entire office to Windows 10. I made special plans with an employee to set up and monitor everything and be sure it went well. I came in to the office and all computers were down - I called to find out what was going on and he had taken a lunch. We had patients to see in 30 minutes and it was a nightmare. Even still, all of the computers didn't update because he didn't follow up.

3 - They will sell you the least expensive equipment available and it does not last. We had to replace all of our computers at least twice in 6 years. This is not normal and we never asked for cheap things. It's kind of bizarre to be honest as it seems they could've made more money off a higher markup of an expensive product but perhaps there's an explanation here.

4 - While we were in the process of switching, we completely took down our existing server and replaced it. We paid monthly for monitoring and TD never noticed the server was down. I still cannot imagine how this happened but they never called to say, "Hey guys it looks like you could be down, is everything ok?" when the server was completely unplugged. We also had trouble gaining access to the firewall and it actually locked us out and they also still were not monitoring this. I'm grateful it was just us trying to access this because who knows if it was someone with ill-intentions, we would have never been alerted.

5 - When ordering new equipment, they did not replace what we had. For instance, we ordered computers that did not have CD drives to replace computers that did. This is an issue as we need to regularly use CDs for imaging in our practice. There were several occasions like this. I think they could implement a simple checklist of desired features and alleviate this because you don't always know exactly what to ask for but could be reminded if you had a list in front of you.

The strength of this company is their employees. They do go through employees pretty regularly - I've seen a pretty much complete rotation at least twice. However, JB and Troy are FANTASTIC. They're both extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and efficient. It is nice when you call and can usually talk to people you are familiar with and who are familiar with your system and I appreciated that.

While I can't in good faith recommend them as an IT company, I do think not everyone here is bad. Fahim, the manager, has always been kind, good to follow up on issues and enjoyable to speak with. He does a great job at getting things done in a timely manor. I am not an IT expert so this is just a reflection of my experience as a customer.
