August 12 I was reported by another jealous thatcher ( names can’t be said ) that it was a long straw roof , I was aware and had a gut feeling that I should take pictures of old thatch being removed which was Combe wheat straw . So the council sent out to young people form the office who have no clue or ideas about thatching ( as I’m with the Guild of Master Crafts Men ) I believe I many have an inkling of what I’m doing and talking about you’d think !
It’s taken till the 3 Sept for then to make a decision that the thatch has been done correctly but a block ridge under Dorma window is incorrect, even though it’s there to protect the Thatcher for longer life.( less expense for the customer long term )
Not one person in that office knows what they are talking about so this will cause a faster damage to the customers roof , more Environmental damage for materials to be grown transported and work done to the property .
From begging to end of this proses It shows me that the county council have no idea or in what they are talking about when it comes to grade 2 listed thatched properties. It’s the worst experience of my life, total disgrace totally ashamed. Before coming out onto Site , you should learn and know what you are speaking about before trying to talk down to a master Thatcher whose work is clarified by the Guild Of Master Craftsmen. Hold your heads in shame listening to a jealous thatcher .

I found myself a bit out of my depth in this neck of the woods. Which was totally my own fault. I used to live in Timsbury near Romsey. I had fallen in love with a quaint building called 'the Steeple' nextdoor to Snowdrop cottage.
I moved the remnants of Southampton Community Taskforce in the shape of an old oak table and a two tone filing cabinet ?️ in to the Steeple. I really felt as snug as a ? bug in a rug.
Needless to say that I didn't last very long in 'the Steeple' so I moved out and headed back to London.
Over the many years I have had a number of reservations and grievances about the area.
Romsey is a very small town without a complete council. Test Valley are responsible for Romsey in certain issues.
My visit was not well timed and as it was a bit too late (after living in Timsbury so long ago) Even my navigation to the council offices was fraught with peril. This was pre Google Maps days. I think that the whole journey to and from the offices caused me to blow a biological proverbial fuse.

I had cause to phone TV last week. A helpful cjhap, Blake, tried to put me through to the correct department and I left a message on their answerphone.

As I hadn't had a reply the next day, I called again and Blake answered, rembered the call from the previous day, and tried several extensions to try to connect me.

He put me through to Rosalie, PA to CEO, who apologised for the lack of communication and promised to get the appropraite officer to get back to me.

I had a reply within 3 hours.

So thanks to Blake and Rosalie for their interest and perservance to help a member of the public.
Well done.

I've just moved house to Romsey. Virgin, privatised energy companies, water companies, dvla are a nightmare because they dont answer the phone and you can't sort anything out.
Test Valley answered after 3 rings, answered all my queries and sorted out council tax immediately. #love LAS.

Utterly appalling Council unfit for purpose the state of the roads are so dire they are like a third world country and the council do not address the issue at all - they are most likely trading whilst insolvent and have a nonchalant attitude to their Council Tax payers

waste collection is very poor, very particular about what they will take in recycle, even items that say recyclable they wont take, bins are left down the drive
Now reduced to one star any excuse not to collect rubbish or garden waste ! Which I pay for ! Apparently it’s to heavy ! If this was a rail franchise it would be taken away unfortunately we are stuck with this abysmal service !.

Twice I’ve reported missed bins, it’s like talking to a brick wall. And the website is a complete waste of time, it just keeps going back to the beginning and can’t find the post code.
