I called Versailles home for 2.5 years. It’s super convenient location for UChicago students with school shuttle just downstairs and you can always find free parking around. Love the east facing windows with nice view and privacy as the closest building is 1km away. Armando the maintenance staff is super friendly and helpful. It’s an old building so quite some maintenance is needed from time to time, but no major issues. I’m most impressed with the sound proof quality of the building, even if i blast music with a stereo my neighbor won’t hear anything. I will miss my time here.

I lived in these apartments for two years. The units themselves are really nice, I loved my one bedroom unit and the central location of the building can't be beat. Also nice that utilities are charged flat rate. However, the building is pretty poorly managed. I have never seen so much front desk turnover in any apartment I have ever lived in, and getting ahold of the front desk on the phone was damn near impossible most of the time I lived there. Additionally, there were a lot of maintenance issues in the building and my unit while there. Maintenance was very responsive, but not always very helpful. I had a very disruptive "water hammer" in my kitchen sink on and off for a year! And it took maintenance that long to actually figure out how to fix the problem. There was also persistent issues with washer/dryer outages in the basement, one dryer was broken for months before I moved out with no repair seeming to be coming. Not the worst place to live, but not the best either.

I have lived at the Versailles Apartments for 14 years. Lots of things have changed in that time. However, the maintenance team is, and has always been the best. The building is clean and repairs are promptly and professionally attended to. The landscaping and areas around the building are routinely cleaned and changed with the seasons. I am eternally grateful.

Hi, I'm Sky. I would love to drop my sincere review about Versailles Apt. Actually, I've just lived here for about 6 months, but I feel being very lucy to be part of this commnunity. Prior to my arrival to the US, I had searched for a place to live, Versailles is my choice since I read an abundance of great feedbacks about it. Now, I gotta say my decision is absolutely right. There are many things that need to be mentioned here.
For the most part, feeling like home as the staff here including property manager, maintainance staff and cleaners are fantastic. Julia, the former manager, was really enthusiastic and friendly to help me and teach me a lot when I just arrived. Luckily, the new one, Paris, is doing great. She is such a smart and dedicated person who always offers me assistance whenever I need for my unit like pest control or fixing stuff. She is the person who will never hesitate when others ask for help. That's the reason why my son and I love her and highly respect her. Beyond her duty, she also helped my son to enroll in elementary school.I'm so grateful ❤️

Secondly, this place is incredibly safe and clean. I'm really satisfied with Nicolcas who is in charge of the operation of facilities of the building, always gives prompt help.
More importantly, residents here are amiable and kind.

Love to live here longer❤️

They are very unprofessional. I made an appointment for a tour. When I got there no one was in the office. I called the apartment number and they said they would reach out to the management team. No one came to the office or reached back after that, so I was left hanging for additional few minutes until I decided to move on.

I've been a tenant of The Versailles Apts for 16 years. And overall it's been a pleasant place to live. Whenever an issue has arisen, it's been dealt with and resolved to my satisfaction. So I would recommend The Versailles Apts to family and friends as a good residence within the Hyde Park community.

I lived at the Versailles for two years until 2018 and enjoyed it. I rented a studio that had hardwood floors and a nice kitchen with the countertop extending around the corner into the room.
In terms of location right at 53rd street, you can't get more centrally located in Hyde Park, with access to many restaurants and businesses within walking distance. UChicago campus is a 15 minutes walk away.
It's an old building so issues can come up, but management was always responsive. Their maintenance guy Armando is accessible and doing a great job.
