Tick Tock Energy, Inc installed 30 solar panels on my roof in the Spring of 2019. At the time, I didn't know a lot about solar panels or how they should be installed. I did a lot of Internet searches and found an article that ranked Tick Tock Energy as the highest rated installer in the area. I met in person with Jason, a sales consultant for Tick Tock and he explained the number of panels I would need in order to achieve the savings I was wanting. He also explained how the Federal energy rebate I qualified for would work, as well as financing options. Perhaps the biggest selling point for installing Solar was the Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) that are part of Illinois's solar incentive program. Between the Federal Rebates, SREC compensation and low interest solar loan getting solar panels installed seemed like a no brainer. My 3,800 sq foot house is all electric, with two heat pumps, two water heaters, a pool, a commercial grade keggerator and other electrical appliances.

I saw instant savings once the system was energized, and those savings have honestly, only gotten better as I better utilize or learn how to conserve power. Having the Sense Energy monitor they also installed helps see what things are pulling the most energy and when. Using that information, I was able to unplug appliances that weren't needing to be always on or use them during the day time when my panels are producing the most energy, verses drawing (and getting charged for) energy I was pulling from the grid.

It's been interesting to see the various outfits out there installing solar panels on houses. Lately, it seems like there is a new company that I've never seen or heard of installing solar onto houses. A lot of times, they do the installations very quickly which at first glance sounds good, but you can tell they rushed to complete the job. One house in the neighborhood had a crew on the roof at around 8 p.m. installing the homeowners' solar panels with head lamps. Driving by in the daytime, you could see that they just slapped the panels on so they could move on to the next job because it looked sloppy. They didn't take the time to run the metal conduit through the homes attic for example. So, rather than the panels blending in with the roof, you see glaringly bright silver conduit run all over the roof and down the side of the house. There is a house in the neighborhood that has three or three silver conduits coming from the roof panels, down the front of the house (by the front door), then the conduit wraps halfway around the base of the house in parallel rows to the meter. How it should have been done was have the conduit hidden in the attic and then have one conduit extend from the roof directly to the meter. A majority of the installs I've seen locally have the conduit sitting on the shingles, verses run through the attic and to the meter.

I didn't know squat about solar when I contacted the Tick Tock team, and I have to tell you that I feel very, very fortunate (knowing what I know now) that Tick Tock was the company that installed our panels. Everything was professionally done...from the placement of the panels to the running all of the conduit inside the attic and down to the meter. Had I hired someone else, seeing what I see in the neighborhood and elsewhere as I drive around, I too would have likely had a system that from the road or from the ground would look thrown together and unsightly.

Thankfully, my system almost 6 years later still looks great and that's because the panels blend into the roof and all the mechanicals are hidden where they can be. That's what you get when the job is professionally done. I highly recommend Tick Tock Energy, Inc. In fact, a friend of mine saw my system soon after install and signed up to have panels put up on his roof. He's just as satisfied as I am.

Everyone at Tick Tock was friendly and helpful throughout our project design and installation. They took the time to listen to our needs and expectations and genuinely cared about answering our questions and meeting our needs. Their focus is simply to take great care of their clients, not to just sell something. Our system design was a little complex - including a whole house generator, 2 transfer switches, and a battery back-up system for the inverter. The installation went as planned, everything was tested and performed exactly as designed. We've seen 3 days straight of zero utility use (over 72 hours) and several kW of excess generation going back to the grid. We could not be happier with the system or with the nice people at Tick Tock who made it all happen. Their project costs were consistent with costs from other contractors with little or no Solar experience. If you choose Tick Tock, you will be in very good hands, now and for the life of your system.

Tick Tock Energy installed our solar array a few weeks ago. This was a highlight experience for us for 2020-21! Professional and caring, all members of the Tick Tock team went out of their way to clearly explain each step of the process. They answered all of our questions and provided us with resources and contacts to facilitate financing, tax benefits, and gave us everything we needed to streamline the process!
We learned so much and enjoyed meeting the great people in the Tick Tock family! If you are thinking of exploring the possibilities of harnessing solar energy, call Tick Tock!!!

We had solar panels installed by Tick Tock Energy. What a difference it’s made! In the summer, we just pay meter fees.
These people are very professional. They were here when they said they would be, they cleaned up after themselves, and they explained everything in as much detail as you wanted.
It’s been a couple of years and anytime there’s a problem or question, they get back to you with an answer. We are happy with the services provided. They are a great bunch of people to work with.

The whole team at Tick Tock Energy was extremely helpful from start to finish. We debated waiting to hear of more certainty on the IL SREC incentive, and are thrilled we did not wait. Our installation was completed just in time to secure net metering with the utility company, and our utility bill savings are what we expected, if not even better… and that’s including running our pool!

Nothing with our solar install went well and I'm still very upset two years later. No way should they be rated #1. No communication for weeks before all of a sudden they show up to start. They left their scissor lift leaking hydraulic fluid on our yard for a month after the install because they didn't need it anywhere close by yet? Or forgot about it. Trencher went outside the property line and didn't smooth or reseed the 300ft trench. They installed it incorrectly and FAILED the power company's inspection(after showing up late). It wasn't a minor fail either...complete rewire needed because they didn't even look at the schematics. Took 3 weeks to get them back out to fix(I had to call and remind them) and they send an electrician who doesn't deal with solar projects and didn't know how to get it working! Weeks of power we lost out on in July. 2nd inspection they also failed but power company said it was minor and reluctantly turned it on anyway. Tick Tock didn't even bother showing up for that inspection. Once we started generating power it took 5 months to get the monitoring to work and we lost all 5 months of data. It's still not monitoring right but they've moved on and I have lost faith. The salesman flat out lied. He said something like: "We have an in house grant writer who knows just how to apply for grants so you can pretty much count on getting it. Trick is she applies for only 80% of what you're due to make the application stand out." Guess who failed to get the grant? It sickens me every time I drive up and see our solar panels for the next 30 years I'm gonna have bad memories about Tick Tock instead of happy ones. What could they have done to make me happy after all the failure? I don't know but doing nothing was just another kick to the...
