I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I did our due diligence and researched many places in Anna Maria Island for Labor Day weekend. We did read in the reviews that a lot of people had trouble with finding the check-in office for the Tropic Isle Resort. They were not kidding! Just finding the check-in was a hassle! Unfortunately, the address listed on the Tropic Isle's website says 22nd Street, while the check-in office is actually located on Gulf Drive. Ultimately, we ended up picking this "resort" and the specific room of #312 because it had a Jacuzzi tub in the room, and my husband knows how much I love a Jacuzzi! |When we eventually found the check-in, everything seemed to be fine. Nicole was very pleasant and explained where our room was, where to park, how to pick up our golf cart rental, etc. She gave us a card with phone numbers on it in case we needed to call the front desk. When we got to the room, it was very spacious and pleasant enough. There was a big dip in the bed, but not a deal breaker. We looked in the bathroom and noticed that the fixture in the tub was loose, and the bar that holds the shower curtain was completely rusted. Also, there was a lot of mold throughout the grout. Honestly, the tub was pretty disgusting! |After we checked out the room, we decided to take a shower before dinner. For the life of us, we couldn't turn the water to the shower on. We yanked and yanked the fixture, but as it was very loose to begin with, we feared we would pull it off the wall! We called the number on the card they gave us at check-in and another totally different hotel/resort answered! We Googled the Tropic Isle and found a completely different number, and was able to express to the person on duty (Nicole had gone home) that we couldn't turn the water on in the shower. We ended up going to dinner without a shower because I believe the maintenance man was helping other customers. |We got a message from the resort that you literally have to yank on the shower handle more than you can ever imagine to get the water to turn on. After yanking it with all our might, we were finally able to get the shower turned on, we discovered the Jacuzzi didn't work. While brushing our teeth, we discovered the sink did not drain. We called the front desk again, and she said that none of the rooms have had working Jacuzzis for several months. The Jacuzzis have been deemed a hazard, and all of them have been disabled. We literally picked this specific room because the website advertised it as having a Jacuzzi! In full disclosure, they did say as a courtesy, they would refund our "resort" fees. Why am I paying a resort fee to begin with? How is this a resort? Because there was a swimming pool? |So, to make a long story short, unfortunately, I do not recommend this resort. We paid $300 a night for a lumpy bed, no Jacuzzi, black mold in the tub, and our bathroom sink never did drain (even after they claimed to fix it).

After checking out and leaving we were charged an additional $38.52 so I called them and they said we stole a shampoo soup dispenser which we did not do. They said they would refund the charge after I told them we didn’t take this but no refund. Called them 3 more seperate times and they promised to refund the charge each time but they never did.

I stayed here in various rooms over 5 years. After a 5 year gap we were able to go back to Anna Maria Island and the Tropic Isle in our favorite poolside suite. So disappointed in the decline of the facility. The office was moved across the street and we had difficulty getting into the room with the code and then the key. Bottom line, the door was painted shut. |Over the week, the hot water periodically went off and the handy man got hot water so he smiled and dismissed it. The rooms that were previously decorated in a Tropical theme are now all stark white with 1 picture in the living room and old furniture. Large, smart TV in a bedroom, instead of living room. Fixtures in bathroom loose, kitchen sink rusted. Could not open back door. The grounds were updated and planted but garbage outside our door in the plants was there all week. We did see the pool cleaner often, though. No bugs or geckos inside so that was a plus.|The cost of this suite doubled to $7k in 5 years for unfortunately, a sad downgrade to a once charming, lively resort.

Roaches in our room, not just a few but infested. Location is perfect, rooms are comfortable and well distributed. Staff is attentive but bugs are bugs, can’t enjoy when roaches were all over.

Just got back from a stay at this hotel, and it wasn't good. Starting off, we couldn't find where to check in. You have to go across the street to another hotel to do so. This hotel is on a very busy curved road, where cars fly around the corner, so beware! We found rust on shower bar, mold in tub and on bathroom floor. Unit was freshly painted, but paint was splattered on the floor. Bed was uncomfortable, worn sofa and tables. They were doing landscaping renovations when we were there so we were woken up to machinery & workers. Pool was dirty - full of leaves. Best part was the outdoor space/balcony. If you plan on bringing a pet, they charge $50 per pet/per day and then they tax that an additional 12%. We have stayed on AMI many times and believe me there are much nicer places - keep looking!

We had an amazing experience staying on this place. The staff was always ready to help and the manager was very nice and flexible helping us with small problems.
We stayed for 6 nights, for our baby moon. I was 27 weeks pregnant and the location was very convenient. Just cross street from the beach and the hotel provides beach chairs, that were always available for us.
The rooms were very clean and the king size mattress were perfect ( I usually hate too soft hotel mattress). Also very nice to take a break from the beach relaxing on the pool or the comfy chairs around the pool.
I also recommend the bbq sandwich restaurant 5min walking. It’s really good and an easy option when we didn’t wanna leave the beach or get lazy about going out for dinner.
I was dreaming about this trip for a long time, and staying on this hotel made everything special.
We definitely gonna come back.

Room and location were very nice. My qualm was I took a red eye flight in the night before check in. And called the day before requesting an early check in because I knew I would be tired, knowing nothing is guaranteed of course and they said they would try to accommodate. I got to check in around noon just to see where the process was at and remind them I requested an early check in. Wasn’t ready yet no big deal. Went for a drink down the road to wait. Came back around 130 to check again and the person at the desk told me “it’s not ready yet but should be soon because all of the other rooms around it are ready”. So it made me feel like my request wasn’t even communicated to housekeeping which was frustrating because I was getting tired and cranky. Besides that, it was a nice stay.

I was so disappointed in the room at this hotel. We booked a poolside suite to celebrate my recent graduation. The grounds and exterior of the hotel are kept up well and the housekeeping staff does a great job as our room was very clean. The condition of the room, however, was a huge letdown!|When we arrived we circled the building twice looking for the check-in office. My mom can’t walk far distances so this was hard on her and certainly made the check-in process stressful. Eventually we tracked down one of the housekeeping staff and she explained that you check in at the sister motel across the street. They need to at least post a sign so you don’t leave all your guests circling the property clueless and frustrated.|The office for check-in at Seaside (across the street) is awkwardly small. The staff have to keep asking you to step out of their way in order to move around their office space. That said the gentleman that checked us in was great.|We headed back across the street, and moved into our room. We were so disappointed! The couch had holes and stains on it, one of the legs of the coffee table was broken, the knob for the faucet on the bathroom sink came off in my hand, the under-cabinet lighting covers were all broken and hanging down, the shower head wasn’t secured properly to the wall, the lampshade was stained. It just appeared that little to no care was put into this room or the experience a guest would have staying there. If this was an air bnb, I think they would have trouble booking it. At night when we went to shower after the beach, we turned the shower on and water sprayed directly onto the floor flooding the bathroom. We saw that the area where the water sprayed into the bathroom had signs of previous water damage, so I think this was an ongoing issue. When maintenance came to address it, he turned it on and acted like there was no issue. When I showed him all the water pooling on the floor he said just use very low water pressure- don’t turn it on all the way and gave us one extra towel to sop up any water that may end up on the floor. Not really a solution, but okay.|When we checked out we let the office staff know the issues we had and one staff member said “Wow you must have really partied in that room.” No one ever followed up on the issues we had.|For me, I would book a stay elsewhere on the island. It just wasn’t a great experience.|This inn is not in Anna Maria proper, it is in Bradenton Beach if that matters to anyone. The beach across the street from the hotel was beautiful! |
