i wrote a review a long time ago and im shocked it has disappeared
I went to uti in 2017 to 2020 i took the auto/diesel, ford, gm and the welding programs. Now being out for many years I'm able to put what i learned and info into the review. So i think this school is very good for teaching the basics. I have many friends that went through the manufacturing programs and are still working in the field today and enjoy it. I've asked them if they felt uti was worth it and all of them have said they feel it does, now for me i feel like the school was worth it . I do think it should be cheaper...
that being said if you take your ase after taking the class 9 / 10 you will pass the test for them. Now if you want to actual make good money make sure you take the manufacturing training and get a job with one of them out the gate. I got many job offers for ford and gm when i finished. The school will teach you many of things and the teachers are very good(most of them were tech) and if you listen to them you will learn tricks of the trade but its very basic. Once you finish the school you will have to take what you learn and apply it while also remembering that you will always be learning in the auto field. i do feel like thought your schooling you will hear your going to make blank and most of those offers were untrue , unless you get your ase and get as much manufacturing training as you can and stick to a specific manufacturing and get master cert rating for them to make the big money. out the door i didnt get offer so much (2018 $18 flat rate) once i did get out and get couple years under my belt i left the field making ($30 flat rate) . this school can help you become a tech and have many people to help you get jobs and network. this school is for dealer work ALOT for students come to do performance an they do have some really cool classes at the end for it ..but its mosty bases around working at a dealer and doing warranty work etc. now i built my (drift car) while going through the program and the classes do come into play if you pay attention! a lot of student half a$$ and cheat through the classes even though they are very easy. and if you fail a class you aren't trying because it is setup so you pass i say its 60/40 class work to shop work. Overall i think good school, good teachers.... pay attention and you will get a job
I went through the welding program during covid so i cant give honest review because classes were really messed up and school closed down and re opened in months . I learned to weld so i can do fab work in my garage
i made life long friends at this school and learn so much i cant explain...
i toss some pictures of my dd at the time and guest of another professional Drifter Andrew S that went to school there and he happened to stop by on lunch at school to show his car to students
@Sideways_McGee i made couple videos on uti on my tic tok

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is pretty amazing! As an active UTI staff member of 19+ years, I can confidently say this is an outstanding school and organization! Being an active part of helping students achieve their goals and then seeing the opportunities within the industry our students obtain post-graduation, is the ultimate reward! UTI offers a safe working environment, to learn and grow. Through encouragement, support, and fun along the way, there is a feeling of excitement and camaraderie when you walk on campus and it's unforgettable! If you haven't yet, go visit the UTI-Avondale campus today and check out all the buzz for yourself! Check out the photos of the fun staff in the super cool Aviation lab, we love what we do!

I took the core diesel class/cummins engine msat. The core class is not bad for people learning the basics of diesels and working on them. If you already have experience working in a shop and are going through core to get to an msat then it will be pretty easy. The cummins engine msat made the pain of getting through core and living in az worth it even though I can't vouch for the other msats.
If you are going through the student housing be aware of compass rose as they overcharge tremendously and are difficut to work with. The monthly inspections are not consistant in the level of inspection and in showing up to inspect. They will send out dates of when they say they will inspect and inspect different days with no notice and we have had instances were they will open drawers/containers while inspecting. Ive heard of another housing company thery are using and it seems better but I don't have any experience with them.
The other difficulty Ive had with the school is there financial aid department. I had two scholarships, one was for a certain amount and the other was a complimentary msat. I almost gradute and the department is still only aware of the first scholarship and not the second (more vaulable) scholarship. Pretty frustrating having to deal with that and still getting knowhere. Hopefully it gets solved.
Overall, I would come here again but I know plenty people who think other wise. If there is a specific program you are shooting for after core, then I think its a great school, however just doing core diesel or core automotive is not worth it. Career and student services helped out a lot during the process. It is not a school for everyone but I would say most people who try, benefit from the school more.

Lovely school currently enrolled in the aviation program. The curriculum might not be excellent, but the instructors are doing very well at teaching the material.

This program is beyond unprofessional. They only have one A&P mechanic as an instructor for starters so think about how that works. The guys they do have have literally minimal experience from being an f35 crew chief and they will assign him as your powerplant instructor. I shouldn’t even call it instructor. They lack even basic hand tools required to do lab assignments. Half the curriculum is written portly and has incorrect answers marked as correct and they acknowledge it but just say just remember to mark the incorrect one for the test, they only have one very cheap piper arrow for you to “work” on. It’s HORRIBLE. I have a 4.0 in this program as well so don’t think this is coming from a bad student. If you want to do aviation go to AIM. They weren’t an option when I started school and I am so frustrated I’m quitting this program in two courses after powerplant. I have filed official complaints against this program with the FAA and the VA so hopefully something will be done to save others from wasting a lot of money and time.

I went to UTI Avondale back in 2010. I now work for Boeing AOG and travel the world repairing aircraft for the airlines when the repair is too large for them. I did the Auto/Diesel program...funny thing is my group is small and there are 2 others that did the UTI auto/diesel program. So who knows, if you do auto/diesel/power gen at UTI you could end up as a Manufacturing Engineer planning the repairs of military/commercial aircraft lol.

My granddaughter graduated from a welding course at this institute. I'm so glad she made it through the term. I'm very pleased at what she learned. A group of my family attended the graduation. Im so happy we did. I loved the way the instructors acknowledged all the teachers and all the students. I loved the encouragement the welding instructor gave during the ceremony. It was very uplifting. Amen!! Way to go UTI! A JOB WELL DONE FOR OUR FUTURE GRADUATED STUDENTS!! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AT UTI!!

In the HVAC program here and I’ll tell you there is to many student in the classes so you about 5 minutes of hands on then it’s the next students turn. They don’t have enough equipment in the lab to have 30 students in and they’re still making adjustments on what they are putting in the lab. Really last second stuff and always changing the rules for the students! Want you to pay 25k and they don’t even have the lab fully done for your schooling her Do your research before coming here I know I regret not doing it!
