This company is awesome and deserves your support and business. First, have you seen the GIANT American flag waiving at the end of Rt 288 near I-95? That flag was erected on THIS company's property, USA Iron and Metal. For that alone, I salute them.
My family grew up with a recycling mentality. We knew the importance and value of recycling materials instead of just throwing them away. As I became a locksmith, it was natural for me to want to recycling old locks (ones I couldn't restore) instead of just tossing them in the trash. I first went to a small recycler in Richmond and was outright insulted for "only" bringing in two 5-gallon buckets of metal. They blessed me with $5 for about 70 pounds and I was on my way. I did not want to go back to them.
So, I researched other recyclers in the area and came upon USA Iron and Metal. When I called, the gentleman to whom I spoke was very helpful and friendly. He apparently worked at the location in Midlothian (by the Northern Area Landfill), but encouraged me to visit the location in Chester
(1800 Coxendale Rd) because it was a lot closer to me. Well... I am so glad I took his advice.
I had, again, two 5-gallon buckets of lock parts, but received a MUCH difference response from USA Iron and Metal than I did from the other recycler. First, the young lady working in the office was kind in explaining the process, and then called for a gentleman named Chad to help me figure out the best way for me to recycle the metal. Chad took an incredible amount of time (likely because I am a talker) to explain how I could sort my future buckets into separate types of metals, thus yielding me higher returns. Even though I had not separated my metal in any kind of manner, he still genuinely made me feel as if my two buckets were making a difference, and he and the company were grateful. WOW...what a difference between USA Iron and Metal and the OTHER company. He weighed my buckets (79 pounds) and was fair in his assessment of what I brought as far as types of mixed metals. I walked away with significantly more than just $5, a better understanding of the different types of metals used in different lock parts, and a deeper appreciation of this company's stance on customer service. Chad...KUDOS, sir. You are spot on in your pursuit of quality customer service. God bless you and your awesome family.
Friends, really, if you want to keep metal out of the landfills, earn some cash AND support a worthy company while doing so... USA Iron and Metal is the place you should go. I will certainly be giving my future business to them.
