A nice trail to walk around the water if you have the time, we took the western path and then back through the middle taking about 3hs. We saw a few turtles here and there and the occasional vulture. There are a few rest stop along the way where you can take a break. The restroom in the middle is closed but they put a dixi down so there is still the option.

This is a massive preserve managed by Southwest Florida water management district and is a series of limestone quarries filled with fresh water. The hurricane flooded part of this preserve and killed several thousand pine trees with the salt water inundation. Lots of hiking trails.

I found this area close to the Holiday Inn Express, and sought a quiet place to soak up some nature. The trails are easy to follow. I saw many hikers with canine companions ....all leashed I might add. The area was a quarry ...a fact I learned after my hike...it was so beautiful...so quiet...yet full of natural sounds. I only walked in for 35minutes then retraced my steps ..a fabulous first time experience and I did find a picnic table to sit at and breathe...soaked it all in!!

Lots of Dog Poop the first 200 yards from the parking lot. But the smell goes away the farther you go. 💩

It was a perfect day for checking out this preserve, slightly cool which is good since most of the preserve is wide open and full sun. The trails are mostly old roads for the mining equipment so they are easy to follow as they wind around the many man made lakes, a lot of the area is prairie like with wire grass, cabbage palms and cedar. Unfortunately I didn't see much wildlife. The whole area was very clean

Great place to go hiking, biking, kayaking, and fishing. Usually not very busy, and the people you do run into are always very friendly. Teenagers love to come and go swimming, but I wouldn't recommend it. Florida fish and wildlife have been known to be there with binoculars, and they'll be on you like white on rice, giving you a ticket.

This place is pretty, but the trails are not kept well. Some of them are very thick sand which was very difficult to push our jogging stroller through. The bathrooms were also locked and it feels like this place is falling apart. Will not be going back.

I went here with my son-in-law and 5 year old grandson. It was beautiful and peaceful. Hard to believe a major road and city are less than a mile away. We walked to the end of the road which is about 1 1/2 miles then we walked one of the dirt roads back to one of the lakes. By the time we did that and walked back to the car we had gone about 5 miles. My grandson rode his bike while we walked. I'm not sure how far it is to walk around the whole preserve. My son-in-law tracks how far he walks or runs and one time he said he went around what he thought was the whole thing and it was 7-8 miles. He said they only open the gate to let people drive in once a month or so. They allow dogs on leashes. And they allow fishing in the lakes you just have to pack everything in and out. I did not see any trash cans even at the entrance gate so you need to take your trash home to throw it away. There were a few pieces laying here and there that I picked up as we walked. But for the most part people are taking care of the preserve. There is a bathroom at the end of the road by the first lake. I did not go in so I can't comment on the facilities. It's worth the hike in to see the lakes.
