This is an older hotel, quite frankly there is a few things which needed to be fixed. The elevators were malfunctioning but I felt how I was treated by staff was exemplary. I understand the staff at the desk and kitchen are not responsible for elevator or certain repairs and I think even those staff are trying. Considering what they were dealing with they went out of their way to be kind and help me. I somehow lost my nintendo switch which is a treasured possession and they saved it for me. The walking distance to the Norva was what drew me. I could walk to downtown and my concert but the staff made it home. Shout out to Latoya for her help and customer service. Shout out to "Q" who made me laugh and helped me with my pizza and in general. I also saw him help his coworker offering a smile and shift help. The nice breakfast lady and little blonde front desk lady ( i am so sorry i don't know their names) I stayed on April 7th 2025 for reference for those staff..if you show any amount of politeness or reasonability the staff will bend over backwards to help or at least they did for me! Because of the elevator they offered me a free breakfast voucher and my omelet and home fries were great! I'll always stay here when I can.

Overall my stay was comfortable and MOSTLY enjoyable. Check in was fast and easy. My booking description read “breakfast included”. It turns out that’s only for one person, regardless of how many people are listed on your stay. I specifically asked the attendant who checked me in and she said each voucher would be for 2 people but the restaurant and front desk attendant the next day said otherwise. Nothing was done to address the misinformation or to make it right. The complimentary breakfast was unremarkable to the point that I didn’t bother redeeming it the second day of my stay. Check out was just as smooth as checking in. The room was very clean and comfortable with a good supply of anything needed. The view was awesome. The hotel is centrally located and a walkable distance from bars/clubs/lounges/restaurants, museums and other venues. It’s close to the interstate as well.

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Garden Norfolk Hotel for 11 nights, and my experience was unbelievably frustrating due to the complete failure of their elevator system.

• Only 1 out of 4 elevators worked upon arrival-and that single elevator stopped functioning after just 3 days.

• No working elevators for the majority of my stay, forcing me (and other guests) to climb over 100 stairs multiple times a day to access my 7th-floor room.

• Housekeeping and staff suffered even more, carrying laundry, cleaning supplies, and luggage up and down the stairs daily-this was unfair to both guests and employees.

• Management showed zero accountability
—no apologies, no compensation, and no effort to assist guests with mobility challenges.

False promises: Staff claimed elevators would be fixed by April 14th, but nothing was repaired.

This is NOT a functioning hotel. A hotel that cannot provide basic amenities like elevators for nearly two weeks should not be charging full rates. The lack of communication, compensation, or even concern from management was appalling.

Do not stay here unless you're prepared to hike stairs daily and receive zero customer service when things go wrong. I will never return and advise others to avoid this location until major improvements are made.

Just checked out and I must say it was not the most pleasurable experience. First, there isn’t enough signage to me where you are on the exterior of the building to find the entrances and where they lead. Check in was quick. My sister and I each got our own room. When I got in mine, the fridge was broken with dirty towels all around it. My sister couldn’t get in her room at all due to the door knock being broken. They did provide us both with new rooms and free breakfast vouchers. Then out of the 4 elevators only one worked and the overload caused it to continuously be out of order. My room was on the 12th floor, I attempted to get to the lobby floor and got stuck on the 8th and had to walk down stairs the rest of the way. There were several other times where I couldn’t even get on the elevator because the buttons to attempt to go up or down wouldn’t work. You can also hear what’s going on next door and in the halls very well. In addition, the hotel parking is also a paid parking lot for the area so you may not have space if a big show is happening in the city. Lastly, on my second day, the key to my room stopped working. Took me forever to get to the lobby because of the elevator to get the problem resolved just to go back to my room and the keys still didn’t work. So I had to go down a second time. The team was great overall with their customer service though but I won’t be back.

Christina the GM was amazing! She went out her way to make sure our stay was the best! The elevators were having some issues and they worked hard to accommodate people. Renee in the bar was also amazing! Very personable and top notch! Mr. Ed in the chief prepared an amazing meal and even popped out to give us a quick hug ( after we mentioned his name from seeing him on reviews) highly recommend this hotel and be sure to go see Renee and Mr. Ed. Overall great stay! Everyone was super nice and accommodating, especially Ms. Renee down at the restaurant! Had a lovely time talking to her, and the food made by Mr. Ed was delicious every time! The gym was okay and my room had a very slight smell of smoke when I initially checked in that was gone within a couple days, but those were my only qualms and the service, location, and view were unbeatable. Thanks all!

The hotel had some problems, just the elevator breaking down, and a few issues in the room, but Zeana the housekeeping supervisor was awesome!! She was so kind and considerate, and always brightened the days of those around her. Very helpful with everything, made the experience a lot more enjoyable despite all of the problems. Highly recommend that you stay in the hopes that you may meet this wonderful woman.

It was a great stay! Welcoming front desk representatives and no issues checking in or out. Very nice overall decorum and appeal. Awesome location with plenty of parking. The only inconvenience was the smell in our room. I think the filter for the heating and ac unit needed to be changed.
